Grand Bahama's Junkanoo Festival winners announced

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- The Ministry of Tourism in Grand Bahama announced the winners of the Summer Junkanoo Festival on Thursday evening at Sunset Village in Eight Mile Rock. The Summer Junkanoo Festival was also held in West Grand Bahama. The partnership with local Junkanoo groups enabled the vibrant cultural festival dispay to attract some 400 visitors, despite inclement weather for two weeks. Director of Tourism for Grand Bahama, Betty Bethel, was on hand to thank and encourage organizers and committee members for a job well done. She also said that all of the Junkanoo groups received prizes because the Ministry of Tourism wanted to show its support to all groups that helped to make this festival a success. The winners of Summer Junkanoo Festival were The New Life Classic Dancers; Swingers were second; and the Western Star Titans were third. Shown are the New Life Classic Dancers.
