Month-long Community Service Initiative Beautifies New Providence Beaches and Neighborhoods

Baha Mar employees pledge to lend a hand throughout New Providence over the next four weeks.

New Providence beaches, neighborhoods and public spaces will get a helping hand as more than 1,500 Baha Mar team members volunteer their time in a month-long community service initiative.

The initiative, BELIEVE in the Nation, launched on Monday April 24, 2015 at Yamacraw Beach with Baha Mar employees spending hours clearing debris and trash from the Eastern New Providence beach.

Baha Mar Director of Community Relations, Matthew Aubry said, “The BELIEVE Foundation was created for moments like this that allow Baha Mar to partner with communities to build a Bahamas we can all be proud of for generations to come. As Baha Mar citizens we are not only showing our pride for where we work, but also for where we live and play.”

Over the next month, Baha Mar employees will volunteer in communities around New Providence including Kemp Road, Bain Town, Coconut Grove, Englerston, and Fox Hill. Beach clean-up initiatives will span from Montague Beach in the east to South Beach, Saunders Beach and Goodman’s Bay.

BELIEVE in the Nation kicks off National Volunteer month, and sets the stage for Baha Mar’s goal to contribute over 6,000 hours of community service and volunteerism to The Bahamas, with an estimated impact of more than $100,000.

The BELIEVE Foundation, Baha Mar’s philanthropic arm, was created in 2011 to encourage community development, preservation of culture and conservation of the environment of The Bahamas.
