Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Perry G. Christie paid a visit to the campus of The College of The Bahamas on Thursday, March 26. The Prime Minister was at the college to speak with students from the School of Journalism on a cross-section of relevant issues. During his address, Mr. Christie discussed the importance of the media presenting 'fair and balanced' information to the public; the Freedom of Information Act (currently being reviewed by the government); Value Added Tax; and the amendment to the constitution on gender equality, among other topics. Mr. Christie also encouraged the students to hold members of parliament 'accountable' by challenging them on their promises. He said that he was 'excited' to be speaking to the students and looked forward to meeting with them again in the future. The event was organized by lecturers at the School of Journalism.
