A judge on Wednesday denied a bail application made by a suspect in the home invasion and armed robbery at the deputy prime minister's residence in December 2013.

Justice Vera Watkins refused bail for Tyrone Knowles based on the strength of the prosecution's case and that there had been no unreasonable delay in bringing the case to trial.

Watkins set bail at $9,500 for another suspect in the case, Marc McCartney, in December 2014.

The crown had appealed against the decision to grant bail, but the appellate court agreed that McCartney should have been admitted to bail.

Knowles, McCartney and Jeffrey King are awaiting trial on charges of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Prosecutors allege that they robbed Davis of jewelery worth $93,000, a jewelery box worth $200, a gold Barraca watch worth $700, an opal top wallet worth $450, a Royal Bank credit card and a driver's license worth $15 during the holdup at his home in Westridge Estates.

They are also accused of robbing Davis' wife Ann Marie Davis of $2,953 and his driver Wilberforce Seymour of $10.

The men have a tentative trial date in July 2015 and fixed trial on August 15, 2016.

Richard Boodle appeared for Knowles. Linda Evans was the prosecutor.
