The unsound 'sound generation'

Now I know beyond any shadow of a doubt, that many, many people in my reading audience are indeed dying to know what the actual theme of today's article is as they initially read the title 'The Unsound 'Sound Generation''. Well, let me tell you how I came up with this title.
A couple came to visit me a few Sundays ago. Actually, I had some business matters to discuss with the lady, and she had brought her husband with her. Now this couple was in their mid-40s. Let me explain, that in my home I only have the television on when there is something which I want to see, a program that interests me, and I do not have music blaring all day long in my home. Of course, even if I did have T.V. on, when someone visits me I'd immediately cut it off so that I could converse with my guests and concentrate on them.
Well, as I was talking to the lady, I could not help but notice her husband who kept glancing nervously at the T.V. and then obviously looking for the remote, which he couldn't find. Quite frankly, he looked like he needed a "sound fix" real bad. Eventually he put his head back, closed his eyes, and tried to sleep. I realized, that without T.V. blaring in the background, as was the custom in his own house, which I had visited on several occasions, or some music of some kind, this grown man was like a fish out of water, he was completely lost and just didn't know what to do.
That's right, there's a whole generation who appear to be badly addicted to sound, they've got to have noise all the time, or else they're lost. And that's what led me to come up with today's title, the unsound sound generation.
My friend, please don't get me wrong here today. There's absolutely nothing wrong with watching T.V. or listening to music. However, it is absolutely essential to our future success, stability, and spiritual development, that we also spend set periods of time in the silence. Yes indeed, we all need to allow ourselves to be quiet at times in order to develop and thrive. It is quite definitely unsound to always have to have some form of loud noise in the background. I contend that it's absolutely vital to one's overall development that a person allows themselves to be quiet for set periods of time each and every day in order to be able to think, plan, grow, and spiritually evolve.
