Rev. Kendal Nottage was among the first people to pick up his uniform and accreditation for the inaugural International Association of Athletics Federation's (IAAF) World Relays.
The two-day meet will be held under the patronage of Nottage, who is The Bahamas' first minister of sports, over at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium.
Rev. Nottage collected his kit and accreditation from the IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2014 Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre (UDAC) located at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium, which opened earlier this week. He was joined by several members of the event's Local Organizing Committee (LOC) executive board and many volunteers who will help in a variety of roles this weekend.
The UDAC is the main base for accreditation and uniform distribution for over 800 volunteers as well as LOC staff and journalists. It will also supply uniforms to LOC staff, technical officials and eligible contractors.
Nottage said: "It's a proud moment to be here alongside our fantastic volunteers picking up our uniforms and accreditation. The IAAF World Relays are almost upon us and our volunteers will be front and center of the welcome we give to the world."
The majority of uniforms were designed by IAAF official sportswear provider Adidas. The UDAC is opened from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until May 25, 2014. The IAAF World Relays Bahamas 2014 will take place Saturday and Sunday at the new national stadium. The world's top athletes are expected to be in action in front of an estimated 30,000 spectators, and over 100 journalists from around the world over the two days of competition.
