Liturgical dancers were encouraged to spend more time in prayer and the Word of God in an effort to propel them towards a mega-shift of holiness in their personal lives by Minister Samita Ferguson, during a recent Dance Summit hosted by Creative Christian Arts Ministries International (CCAMI).
Ferguson, who serves as the dance leader at the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP) in The Bahamas spoke during CCAMI's most recent monthly summit at its Community Centre on Windsor Lane West, off East Street.
Ferguson urged the dancers to ensure that their lives are a good example of the life a child of God should be. And she told them that they are not just praise dancers, but dance ministers chosen to use their gifts to bring honor and glory to God.
Minister Mitzi Barnett, also from the COGOP told the dancers to understand that they were created in the image and likeness of God. She told them that if they wanted a mega shift in their lives that they needed to make a mega sacrifice. She told them that God requires them to present their bodies as a living sacrifice. She told them that God requires them to be all that he has called them to be.
The theme for the conference, hosted by Apostles Henry and Ann Higgins was "Dancing into your Mega Shift", based on Jeremiah 31:4-13.
CCAMI's Teen Dance Ministry, as well as Raising the Standard, Dekeriah Mime and Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Dance Ministry, Chosen, Royalty, as well as ministers Natasha Davis and Cindy Thompson from Ebenezer Baptist Church also participated in the Summit with praise and worship and dance ministry.
Summit co-hosts, Ann and Henry Higgins told the congregation that the reason for God bringing the dancers together was so that they could use their gift of dance to bring about a positive shift in The Bahamas. They encouraged dancers to move beyond the four walls of the church and get into the communities and neighborhoods with dance concerts, recitals, classes and workshops. They were encouraged to engage more young men and women in the area of liturgical dance, hip hop, and mime.
The Higgins's told them that God has called them to dance, sing, dramatize and mime the spirit of peace, love and unity back into The Bahamas.
The summit ended on Saturday with dance workshops taught by Apostle Henry and Dr. Ann Higgins who started 28 years ago at Bahamas Faith Ministries.
