Cocktails & Dreams security guard killer sentenced to 5 years

A man convicted of manslaughter in the 2007 shooting death of a Cocktails and Dreams nightclub security guard was sentenced to five years in prison yesterday.

Last week, Raphael Neymour, 25, was found guilty of manslaughter by provocation in the death of Cocktails and Dreams security guard Huel Charles Ferguson.

Mr Ferguson was killed outside the club on August 30, 2007.

Neymour's attorney Wayne Munroe submitted that, based on the verdict, the jury felt the deceased caused his client to lose self-control.

He noted that Neymour had already spent 19 months in prison awaiting trial and that five to eight years imprisonment was maximum penalty in such cases.
