Two men died in separate incidents after they were shot in New Providence yesterday, police said.
Around 4 p.m., a man was shot and killed in front of the Phoenix Cafe chinese restaurant on East Street South, police said.
Police were also investigating the murder of a man, who was shot near the Englerston Urban Renewal Centre yesterday morning and died in hospital.
In the latest incident, police responding to reports of a shooting at the Chinese restaurant discovered a man lying face down in a pool of blood.
A relative on scene at East Street identified the victim as Dior Johnson, 26.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson said one of the occupants of a "small vehicle", which pulled up alongside the restaurant, exited the car and shot the victim multiple times.
He was pronounced dead on scene.
Police said they do not know what motivated the crime.
Ferguson said police were following significant leads.
Asked whether police knew the victim, Ferguson said police did not want to release any details that would compromise their investigation.
Several relatives gathered, screamed and held each other.
Among the group, one woman shouted repeatedly, "Let me see Dior. Please. I want to see him."
Ferguson said police were searching for two men they believe are responsible for the shooting.
In the second incident, police said they received reports of a shooting in front of PiC-AX Tyre Repair on Moore Avenue, which is next to an Urban Renewal center.
According to Superintendent Stephen Dean, two armed men on a motorbike drove alongside the victim, who was standing in front of the repair shot, and shot him several times before fleeing the scene.
The victim, whose name was not released, was visiting a relative in the area, Dean said.
The man was transported to hospital where he died within a couple of hours, police said.
No one was in custody for either murder up to press time, according to police.
The incidents pushed the murder count for 2014 up to 15, according to The Nassau Guardian's records.
Asked whether the shootings yesterday were connected, Ferguson said, "Our investigation so far does not suggest that the two matters are related."
The murders came less than a week after a 23-year-old man was shot and killed at his Rokers Point, Exuma home.
