It's finally here, the greatest seven days of high school basketball here in The Bahamas - the Hugh Campbell Basketball Classic. Before the tournament begins, I will break down each pool, giving my upsets, players to watch, X-factors, game of the pool, sweet 16, elite eight, and pool winners.I will also give you my overall champion.Pool 1 Prediction:C.I. Gibson, Queen's College, Agape Christian, Sunland Baptist.Let's begin with Pool 1, where the number two overall seed and Government Secondary Schools Sports Association (GSSSA) Champions, C.I. Gibson Rattlers, headlines a pool which most experts believe is the toughest. It includes the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS) Champions, Queen's College Comets, and contenders in Agape Christian, the runner-up at the Catholic High School Tournament in Grand Bahama, and Sunland Baptist, who advanced to the Hugh Campbell championship game in 2011.Upset Watch: Teleos Christian and Westminster - when it comes to upsets, I see in this pool there are these two who stand out to me.Players to Watch: Lerecus Armbrister (Q.C.) and Godfrey Rolle (Agape) - Queen's College's Lerecus Armbrister is arguably one of the best guards in the country. He had game-highs of 40 points and 33 points in the playoffs and championships of the BAISS. One of the best shooters in the country is Godfrey Rolle of Agape Christian. He is deadly from the outside.X-Factor: Oatman Lightbourne from C.I. Gibson. If he is on, C.I. Gibson could make it to the final on Monday night and win it all.Pool 1 Championship Prediction: C.I. Gibson versus Queen's College.Pool 2 Prediction:C.C. Sweeting CobrasNoble Preparatory AcademySt. George's JaguarsTemple Christian SunsJack Hayward WildcatsC.W. They have vengeance in their eyes, so look for them to advance to the pool final. Also in this pool is Geno Bullard and Noble Prep.Upset Watch: St. George's - this team has experience and is led by national team coach Darrel Sears. They are coming off a tough season in Grand Bahama but if they can solve their point guard issues they can pull an upset.Players to Watch: The players to watch will be Michael Bethel and Adrian Thompson of C.C. Sweeting, and Andre Watson of Jack Hayward. Bethel scored 27 points in a losing effort in the playoffs against Doris Johnson. Watson is one of the most explosive players in the league. He averaged 18 points per game in the pre-season tournament.X-Factor: Geno Bullard and the mysterious Noble Prep School. We don't know what to expect from them?Pool 2 Championship Prediction: C.C. The Falcons have won six Hugh Campbell titles under Norris Bain and this year, they are undefeated in Grand Bahama at 28-0 after winning four tournaments, including the Grand Bahama Secondary Schools Athletic Association (GBSSAA) regular season title. Coach Bain said he has never been as excited about a team like he is this year. The Falcons have great guard play with Robert Joseph, player of the year in Grand Bahama, and Rashad Russell, GBSSAA Championship most valuable player (MVP).Doris Johnson upset C.C. Sweeting to advance to the GSSSA championship series, before losing to C.I. Gibson. The Marlins are led by Brandon Stubbs, Shanton Pratt and Game Atilus.Upset Watch: The C.R. Walker Knights with their pressing style of play are perfect for this tournament, always one of the most athletic teams in the tournament. They are led by Mark Emmanuel, who simply wears his opponents down.Player to Watch: The Falcons' Robert Joseph is one of the best guards in the country. The high scoring guard was named player of the year by Grand Bahama Sports.com, and also named MVP in three of the pre-season tournaments for the Falcons. Joseph is an exciting player to watch. He can do it all.X-Factor: Tabernacle Baptist could possibly face Doris Johnson in their first game on Wednesday at 2 p.m. If the Falcons lose their first game of the year, how will they react for the rest of the tournament?Pool 3 Championship Prediction: Tabernacle Baptist versus Doris Johnson.Pool 4 Prediction:Eight Mile Rock Blue JaysAbaco CentralRM Bailey PacersC.V.
