An awesome lineup featuring the vocals of Naomi Taylor and the Vice Versa Band, Clinton Crawford, Shacara Newton, Anastacia Charlow Huber, Fred Ferguson and Josh Lynes will ring through the grounds at the Bahamas National Trust (BNT) this weekend as the Rotary Club Nassau Sunrise hosts "Jingle bell Jazz: An Evening of Music, Joy and Fun".
Taylor, the lead vocalist for the Vice Versa Band will bring to the event to be held tomorrow between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., a voice that is luxuriant, silky. She has a sophisticated tonality to her voice that speaks straight to her listener's heart.
Crawford, who has a dynamic and stirring voice that spans soul, pop, R&B, jazz, reggae and calypso, has an impressive repertoire that engages his listening audience. He is the band leader/lead male vocalist for the Vice Versa Band. He also plays with various local bands including Jazz Etc.
Once in every blue moon you come across a voice that makes your hair rise, and your heart beat a little faster -- the rich and soulful vocals of Shacara Newton will do just that.
The lead vocalist for Tingum Dem, Newton is blessed with an impeccable voice of almost unimaginable power and quality. And she weaves in and out of genres and puts her personal stamp on every song -- from calypso to soul, to jazz to R&B.
Vocal stylist and jazz performer, Anastacia Charlow Huber, is expected to bring loads of energy to the stage, and she paints a picture through her vocal interpretations that captivates an audience.
As the lead female vocalist for the Ambassah Band, she continues to explore the various genres of music without alienating her deep love and respect for jazz.
Fred Ferguson, one of the country's most inventive guitarists today, will bring a refreshing twist to the evening, adding an infectious and tasty fusion of calypso jazz. He is expected to leave it all on the stage when he performs with the Vice Versa Band on Saturday.
Josh Lynes, a contemporary artist whose music is a cross between John Legend, Mario, Lauryn Hill and Kim Burrell, and who has a singing range from R&B and funk to soulful gospel, rounds out the singers will to the stage to round out the evening. His voice has a melodic and spiritual quality that makes him unique.
"We have an awesome line-up," said Nassau Sunrise Fundraising Director Deno Moss. "We're hoping people come out and have a wonderful time at this beautiful evening designed for fun, networking and fellowship. There will be lots of food and drinks provided by Burns House. We will even have vegan food available."
The main charities to benefit from this event will be the Bahamas National Trust, specifically their youth programs, to create new guardians of the Bahamian natural environment; and the Sea Horse Institute, a rehab facility that caters to kids with special needs.
The "Jingle bell Jazz: An Evening of Music, Joy and Fun" will be the fourth in the series of jazz events staged by Nassau Sunrise Rotary. At their initial street party event, at least 600 people filled the street in front of Van Breugel's; approximately 400 crammed their event at the Blu Restaurant. They also had a good crowd at their National Art Gallery event as well.
"This time we're going under the stars at the Bahamas National Trust, which will be decorated in a Christmas theme," said Moss. Rotary is a service organization that focuses on service above self. The Nassau Sunrise club meets on Thursdays at 7 a.m. at the British Colonial Hilton.
Tickets for "Jingle bell Jazz: An Evening of Music, Joy and Fun" are $50 general admission with food and drink available for purchase. VIP tickets are sold at $1,000 for a table for eight to be seated under the pavilion with all food and drinks included in the ticket price.
