BOB (Bank of The Bahamas Limited) made going back to school a little easier this year for hundreds of children and parents throughout the country.

The Bank purchased 5,000 composition books and distributed them along with BOB drawstring bags, pencils and other school supplies to 19 schools in the seven island communities where the bank's thirteen branches are located.

The books were all branded with BOB labels, printed through a partnership with The Nassau Guardian.

"We wanted to help as many students as we could, especially in the Family Islands where it is sometimes more difficult to obtain the necessary supplies," said Wayde Christie, Chief Officer of Operations, BOB.

"All of our branches are reaching out to build and strengthen ties with the community to ensure that our students are well-equipped to receive a good education," he said.

Each of BOB's branches adopted at least one school at the beginning of the new school year and presented much needed supplies for the students.

In Nassau adopted schools include C.W. Sawyer Primary School, Carlton E. Francis Primary School, Oakes Field Primary School, Columbus Primary School, and Sandilands Primary School.

Deborah Mitchell, Assistant Branch Manager of Village Road Branch said she learned that some students at their adopted school came to school the first day without books.

"The children were very happy to receive the books and we also left lunch bags there which will be given to the students who make the honor roll," Ms. Mitchell said.

In Grand Bahama the Freeport Branch adopted Lewis Yard Primary School, while Eight Mile Rock Branch took three schools under its wing: Community Holiness Pre-School, Faith Christian Academy Pre-School and Bartlett Hill Primary School.
