More than 30 of the nation’s top high school and college students, selected from approximately 250 applicants, are currently participating in the highly coveted high school ‘Baha Mar Junior Jet Setters’and college ‘Summer Associates’ internship programs.
During the 6-week internship programs, the summer interns are working with Baha Mar professionals in their respective areas of interest including Marketing, Human Resources, Law, Engineering/Operations,Finance, and Information Technology. “We wanted to engage the students in exciting projects that affect the development of the resort in real time, yet expose them to disciplines that may not immediately be associated with the hospitality industry but are a key part of our growth,” said Kristin Wells, Baha Mar Academy Director.
“For example, some of our finance summer associates are researching the impact of Value Added Tax (VAT) on Baha Mar, associates in the human resources department are planning employee engagement events, and a marketing summer associate is documenting the entire internship process.” In addition, the interns are receiving professional development training such as collaborative skills, personal branding and resume building.
“We are incredibly excited to provide such extraordinary high school and college students with the opportunity to work on projects of which they can be proud while gaining work experience and potentially identifying career paths at Baha Mar,” said Wells.
