ENERGY HITS 'COOL' 30-35 OF TOTAL COSTS

ENERGY BILLS for Bahamian companies with high cooling requirements can account for up to 30-35 per cent of total operating costs, it was revealed yesterday, as private sector leaders expressed hope an upcoming forum would enable them to "significantly influence policy".

Unveiling the Bahamas Energy Forum, set to be held from November 4-5 in conjunction with the Home & Builders Show and the Government's Energy Awareness Week, executives said that while energy typically accounted for between 15-20 per cent of total Bahamian hotel and operating costs, this ratio was significantly higher for the likes of food stores and fisheries wholesalers.
