Irene fails to dent school return sales

BAHAMIAN retailers said the impact of Hurricane Irene failed to slow down the traditional Back-To-School rush leading up to the opening of the new school year.

Back to School sales are traditionally the second busiest period of the year for retailers behind the Christmas season. Charmaine Daley, manager of John's Department Store on Carmichael Road, told Tribune Business that commerce had not slowed down due to the hurricane at all.
