Organizers have enhanced hopes for what has been the College of The Bahamas' annual student talent showcase for the past 20 years.

"What I would like to see happen for the Color of Harmony is for the whole event to be integrated into this very dynamic development of art in the country," said art lecturer John Cox, of the event scheduled for Thursday, April 8 at the college's Performing Arts Center.

An event that combines art and music produced by students, the Color of Harmony drew hundreds to the official opening of the institution's new Performing Arts Center last year. This year lecturers hope to cast new light on the potential of student work to reach beyond the boundaries of the campus.

"I think in the past the College has seen Color of Harmony as a very rich and proud celebration of E. Clement Bethel, and has seen it as an example of excellence in music and art, which years back has been successful," said Cox. "But I think now is the time for us to break through the ceiling a little bit and kind of integrate what's going on with the students in both the art and music department with the developments that are going on in the broader community."

The event consists of an exhibition and a musical concert featuring the school's well known choir and band. In addition to performances by the choir and band, Thursday's concert will include performances by smaller ensembles of students, some of whom already play in the wider community.
