After two successful seasons at Holland College, New Providence native Trevone Grant committed to playing for the Acadia Axemen next season.

Acadia University head coach Kevin Duffie made the announcement at the school yesterday that the 6'1" combo guard decided to bring his talents to his club.

In two seasons, Grant led Holland College to back-to-back ACAA championships and most recently finished third at the 2016 CCAA Nationals where he was named as a second team tournament All-Star.

"We are excited about the addition of Trevone to our roster. We believe he will impact our team immediately and has the physicality to defend guards in our league," said Duffie. "He has the offensive skillset to add a scoring punch to our group.

"He is a quality individual that will bring experience and leadership to our locker room."

Last year, Grant was third in scoring in the ACAA at 20.2 points per game. Along with his scoring, he also anchored the Hurricanes defense with a league leading three steals per game.

When asked about his decision to transfer to Acadia University, Grant said that he liked the system and roster that was already in place and that this situation puts him in the best position to capture a league title.

"My focus is to win right now and I felt like Acadia was the best fit because they have an established team," said Grant. "My hope is to add to what they already have on the roster and compete to win an AUS championship.

Last season, Grant's top performances include 31 points with 10 rebounds and 22 points, six rebounds with 15 rebounds in both matchups against UKC.

He also added 17 points and nine rebounds in a 91-60 win over MVSU and 22 points, six rebounds and nine assists in a 94-78 win against Mount Allison.

Trevone will enter Acadia looking to complete a degree in Business Administration.

The Axemen begin training camp on September 9 in Wolfville.
