Police investigate suspected drowning at Palmetto Point

POLICE in Eleuthera are investigating the circumstances surrounding the apparent drowning death of an adult male from Palmetto Point that occurred on Saturday.

According to police, shortly after 11am, the victim was on a fishing trip in a boat along with another man in waters off Governor’s Harbour when he fell overboard.

The victim was immediately pulled from the water in an unconscious state and taken to shore.

Despite extensive CPR efforts, officers reported that the victim was pronounced dead by the island’s medical doctor.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations are ongoing.
