What a wonderful, powerful and merciful God we serve

"I have given them thy Word."- John 17:14

Indeed I am mindful of the season in the history of the church that we are in, but if the Lord has given me a message for the nation then so it must be. Our savior and Lord, Jesus Christ has fulfilled the mission here on earth that his heavenly father sent him on. He was born, grew up as a child in humble submission to his earthly parents, Joseph and Mary, entered adulthood, performed miracles, spoke in parables so that a child could understand the way to salvation and life, died, was buried and rose from the dead and is now ascended into heaven; and from what is going on in the world today, his coming draweth near.

So much ceremony and drama are going on in churches today. In some cases, people are eating Jesus' flesh and drinking his blood every time the church door opens, but it seems that rather than let their spiritual lights shine, they bring more darkness to already darkness.

It is the duty of every child of God to be a witness to lost souls more so than wait for Sunday morning to go through the readiness of going to church. I wonder how many realize the purpose of being here on planet earth. It is not to gather wealth, fortune and fame, but to every day be in rehearsal mode for your exit. Every day we see or read of persons who hoarded all in life, but had to leave all, and oh so suddenly.

The word of the Lord that comes today for your reading, reflecting and internalizing was given to the Prophet Isaiah for the then, the now and until Jesus comes again. If our nation is to become the nation that will become the righteous nation, then salvation must be the key and not legislation. Laws change and come and go, but the word of The Lord our God will stand forever. Before it fails, there will be no more earth and we will go back to Genesis when the earth was formless, desolate and dark.

Those who go to Egypt for help are doomed. They are relying on Egypt's vast military strength -- horses, chariots, and soldiers. But they do not rely on the Lord, the holy God of Israel, or ask him for help. He knows what he is doing. He sends disaster. He carries out his threats to punish evil people and those who protect them.

The Egyptians are not gods -- they are only human. Their horses are not supernatural.  When the Lord acts, the strong nation will crumble, and the weak nation it helped will fall. Both of them will be destroyed.

The Lord said to me, "No matter how shepherds yell and shout, they can't scare away a lion from an animal that it has killed, in the same way there is nothing that can keep me, the Lord Almighty from protecting Mount Zion. Just as a bird hovers over its nest to protect its young, so I, the Lord Almighty, will protect Jerusalem and defend it."

God said, "People of Israel, you have sinned against me and opposed me. But now, come back to me. A time is coming when all of you will throw away the sinful idols you made out of silver and gold. Assyria will be destroyed in war, but not by human power.

The Lord has spoken. The Lord who is worshipped in Jerusalem and whose fire burns there for sacrifices.

What a wonderful, powerful and merciful God we serve. Although we have sinned, fallen short of the glory of God, worshipped the god of materialism, he so wants to bless us if only we will turn from our wicked ways.

Why not raise a new shout to him who comes in the name of the Lord -- Hosanna, Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Amen, and Amen.
