Luciano’s of Chicago gears up for another year in joining other local culinary partners as they fight hunger together at Empty Bowls 8th annual charity event on Saturday, February 27th, from 1pm-5pm at the Queen’s College Auditorium. For eight years, Luciano’s of Chicago is proud to join others in their outpouring support and generosity of donating their time and food in the collaborative effort to raise funds and awareness of the importance of meeting the needs of the less fortunate affected by hunger within the country. This year, all proceeds from the charity event will be donated to the Central and Southern Bahama Islands damaged by the devastation of Hurricane Joaquin.

At the event, guests take their pick at unique, beautifully crafted ceramic bowls produced by various local artists, which not only serves as a souvenir of the event, but as a visual reminder that many Bahamians face the reality of hunger on a daily basis. For a donation of $20, guests get to warm their hearts with freshly-baked rolls, tea and their choice of an array of delicious home-made soups including Luciano’s of Chicago’s Minestrone Soup – world famous vegetable soup of Italy.

“For eight years it’s rewarding to see the positive results of fighting hunger along with a number of local restaurants through Empty Bowls annual charity event. Luciano’s of Chicago is proud to participate and make such a small donation that benefits many Bahamians in a huge way, through the world of art,” said Sue Lawrence, Director of Special Events at Luciano’s of Chicago. “We expect this year’s charity event to be no different than its past and look forward to the outpouring support from the local community to help Empty Bowls in its fight against hunger through the promotion of the arts - visual, culinary and performing.”

Supporters of this great cause can expect more than the enjoyment of delicious home-made soups, as the event will also be accompanied by entertainment, displays of hand-crafted items for purchase and a number of fun-filled activities for kids and guests.
