One-off deals boost BISX to 10 year highs

The controlling ownership changes at Cable Bahamas and the Grand Bahama Power Company resulted in the 10 year-old Bahamas International Securities Exchange (BISX) hitting record trading volumes and values last year, with 10,859,846 shares worth $110.226 million changing hands.

Most of that resulted from the Columbus Communications buyout at Cable Bahamas, where 5,954,600 shares worth $80 million changed hands. A 1,073,917 share trade at ICD Utilities also took place, worth $8 million, as part of Emera acquiring the majority stake in Grand Bahama Power from Marubeni.
