The season of giving has not ben lost at The Bahamas Striping Group of Companies. Recently, the company donated 1,500 hams and turkeys, and over 500 toys to The Ministry of Social Services. Each year, the company exhibits its sense of community and goodwill by making donations to various groups and organizations.
Managing Director, Dr. Allen Albury indicated that the holiday season is marked by giving and although it has been a challenging year financially, the President, Atario Mitchell, wanted to assist those who are less fortunate.
He added, “We chose to partner with The Ministry of Social Service because they would be able to distribute the toys and hams to persons in Nassau, as well as throughout the Family Islands, especially those who are recovering from the damages from Hurricane Joaquin.
Mrs. Loraine Duvalier, Assistant Director, Ministry of Social Services, graciously accepted the timely donation which will be distributed between all of the children’s homes nationally.
"It is gratifying to know that Bahamas Striping Group of Companies remembered the children because the toys mean the world to them and sometimes they are forgotten."
She also indicated that she hopes more companies will follow in the footsteps of Bahamas Striping and in 2016, it is hoped that persons would come forward and become big brothers and sisters to the children in these homes because it is important for them to have mentors.
President, Atario Mitchell also mentioned that BSGC also donated hams and turkeys to Head Knowles who traveled to the southern islands to host a Christmas dinner, and his team will travel to Grand Bahama to spread cheer to the children at The Grand Bahama Children's Home and The Columbus House.
Mitchell said, "Christmas is personally my favourite time of the year and although we help persons throughout the year, it is heartwarming to make Christmas more enjoyable and special for a family who is need."
Mr. Mitchell encouraged more businesses to commit themselves to assisting charitable organizations who desperately need assistance to carry out their outreach services on a daily basis.
