THE "hype" over President Jean Claude 'Baby Doc' Duvalier's return to Haiti is "mainly from the outside," said Dr Eugene Newry, former Ambassador to Haiti and Dominican Republic.

There has been an international media frenzy over President Duvalier's return after 25 years of self-imposed exile in France.

Although he was welcomed by some supporters, in reality, Dr Newry said, Duvalier did not receive a "hero's welcome." From the Haitian government, he received the "cold-shoulder."
