Two Bahamian men are expected to face charges on Monday in connection with a drug bust in New Providence this week, Superintendent Prince Charlton confirmed yesterday.

Two men were discovered with just over ten pounds of marijuana in the trunk of a car. Charlton claimed the suspects collected the drugs from a boat that had just arrived from one of the Family Islands. He declined to say which island, as the matter is still under investigation.

Charlton said detectives were acting on information when they stopped the men on Mackey Street. The drugs, which have an estimated street value of $10,500, were hidden in salt buckets, he said.

"They have been processed and are going to court on Monday," Charlton said.

He said police are still trying to determine who put the drugs on the boat.
