URCA Officially Presents $1 Million Cheque to NEMA

The Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) officially presented a cheque for over $1 million to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), November 6th, 2015 – fulfilling a pledge made recently for hurricane relief at the Office of the Prime Minister.

The donation of $1,054,256.43 was made to NEMA to assist with restoration and rebuilding efforts in the islands of the Central and Southeast Bahamas devastated by Category 4 Hurricane Joaquin at the beginning of October.

URCA indicated it would like to work with NEMA, where possible, to assist in disaster preparedness efforts in the future. The cheque was presented to Director of NEMA Captain Stephen Russell at URCA’s office on Frederick Street.
