A man died in Gamble Heights on Saturday morning, reportedly after he was stoned, police said.

Police also reported another man was shot to death off Shirley Street on Friday night.

Regarding the Gamble Heights murder, Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle said police got a call shortly before 9 a.m. about a body found in bushes. Officers responded and found the man's body with blunt force wounds.

"The information at this stage is still sketchy," Rolle said.

"We know that earlier this morning, shortly before 4 a.m., there were reports of a fight and persons attacking an individual with rocks and he ran," Rolle said. "We are speaking with several people right now."

Regarding Friday's murder, Rolle said police got a call shortly after 11 p.m. of gunshots going off on Essex Street, off Shirley Street. Police responded and found the body of a 35-year-old man. Rolle said the man was a security officer. The victim was identified as Sidney Logan of Eastwood.

"He was posting relief for the company and had returned to headquarters when he was accosted by a person or persons who produced a firearm and shot him multiple times," Rolle said. "He, in an effort to escape his assailants, drove off a short distance where he crashed into a parked car."

Fox Hill MP Fred Mitchell said Logan's death is a "great loss".

"Once again, and all too frequently these days, I am writing to say that I deeply regret and I am saddened at the murder of another of my constituents, Sidney Logan," he said.

"Mr. Logan, who was a resident of Eastwood, should have, by all accounts, had another 50 years to live in our Bahamas. Sadly, he was cut down as he returned from work. I extend my condolences to his mother and to his wife and family on this tragic event."

"You have never met a more hard working, striving, ambitious man. He worked tirelessly for his family and for our country. He was a mainstay of my constituency branch. This is a great loss."

Anyone with information regarding these two killings is asked to contact police.

The murder count stands at 116.
