A 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday for questioning in relation to the death of a man who was stabbed at Potter's Cay Dock around 1:30 p.m., according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean. The stabbing followed an altercation between two men, but police provided limited details on the incident. The man who was killed was not identified. Police said he died in hospital.

The murder count for the year is now 55. This represents a 17 percent increase over last year. This time last year there were 47 murders.

Police were also investigating the death of a man on South Andros around 2 p.m. yesterday. Dean said the man was brought to a local clinic where he was pronounced dead, but there were no visible injuries on the man's body. He said a team from New Providence would go to the island to assist with the investigation. An autopsy is expected to be performed to determine the cause of death, authorities said.
