Give with no expectations

As all of my regular readers will be fully aware of, my whole philosophy of life is that in the long run, it's all about giving, about serving our brothers and sisters in God's one universal family. Of course, fully understanding the implications of the universal law of cause and effect, we are aware of the truth, that what we put out will inevitably come right back to us for that's the way the law works.

However, I must caution everyone at this point, if you give something to another with the sole thought in your mind that you're only giving to someone because you know you'll get it back greatly multiplied, this is not the right kind of giving at all because in effect you're only giving so that you can receive a whole lot in return. In other words, you need to always do as today's short title suggests, and that is to give with no expectations. I guess that another way of saying it would be give with a good heart. I think this phrase explains it in a way that we can all fully comprehend.

Why do we give to others? Because we know in our hearts and souls, that this is what we should do -- that is give and give with no ulterior motive whatsoever. Some people give with a very miserable look on their face, saying in their mind, you better not forget what I did for you because now you owe me, you're beholden to me. This kind of so-called giving just will not work, believe me.

Yes indeed, when you give, as we say, give from the heart, give joyously and never expect anything back, even though you know in your heart that good giving always returns for that's the law -- the law of cause and effect in action -- as we sow, so shall we reap. What we put out each and every day will, it must ultimately come back. So in conclusion, develop the habit of giving, but always, always give with no expectations of getting anything back. This is the way to live the spiritual life.

Think about it!
