A man who violated a 12-year-old girl on two separate occasions in 2013 was yesterday sentenced to two concurrent seven year sentences Julius Wilson, 46, who was convicted of two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 14 on November 12, 2014, appeared before Senior Justice Stephen Isaacs for sentencing yesterday.

Wilson, who maintained his innocence up to sentencing, was convicted of performing oral sex and molesting the girl in August 2013. Wilson was credited with the six and a half months that he spent in custody - two months before being released on bail and four and a half months post conviction - and has six years and five months remaining on his sentence.

The prosecutor, David Cox, asked the judge to consider a sentence in the range of seven to 10 years. Wilson's lawyer, Joseph D'arceuil, requested a sentence of four to five years. Echoing the sentiments of the Court of Appeal in another sex with a minor case, Isaacs said that the children are not sexual objects and should not be taken advantage of by people in positions of responsibility. Isaacs said that the Wilson had broken the trust placed in him by the victim and had shown no remorse for his actions.
