Fans of the Nassau Music Society’s (NMS) concert series are in for a treat this weekend with two concerts featuring Italian pianist Alberto Nosé. The concerts are said to be not only for piano enthusiasts, but rather all people who love to hear the musical interpretations of a master of the art.

Nosé, a graduate of the F.E. Dall’Abaco Conservatory in Verona, will perform on Saturday, February 21 at the Government House Ballroom at 7:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, February 22 at St. Paul’s Church Hall, Lyford Cay at 5:30 p.m.

Music lovers will get to hear the power and poetry of the renowned pianist who continued his education with professors Franco Scala, Boris Petrushansky and Leonid Margarius at the International Piano Academy Incontri col Maestro of Imola.

He gained his first recognition at the age of 11, winning a first prize at the Jugend fur Mozart International Competition in Salzburg, Austria; after which he held his first concert tour around Italy, Austria and France. He went on to win prizes at numerous international piano competitions such as the Frederic Chopin in Warsaw in 2000 and Paloma O’Shea in Santander in 2005. He has performed in major concert halls including Carnegie Hall of New York; Southbank Centre and Wigmore Hall in London; Konzerthaus in Berlin; Theatre du Chatelet and Salle Pleyel in Paris; Mozarteum in Salzburg; Suntory Hall in Tokyo; Auditorio Nacional in Madrid; Teatro La Fenice in Venice; and Pardo della Musica in Rome.

Nosé is also the winner of the 2005 Paloma O’Shea Piano competition in Santander and the Frederic Chopin competition in Warsaw in 2000.

The pianist who often holds master classes at conservatories, colleges and music festivals, and who is regularly invited to be a jury member at international piano competitions, will present a master class for College of The Bahamas students.

Tickets for the Nosé concerts are available at Logos Bookstore, Harbour Bay Shopping Centre; Custom Computers, Cable Beach; and Buy the Book, Saunders Beach, or at the door. Admission is $25 for NMS members, $35 non-members and $10 for students with identification.
