(DEFENDING CHAMPION)

WEEK 15
Thursday's game
Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams, 8:25 p.m.
The Cards have been the top team in this division all season long, but the Rams have played aggressively, and have certainly been no pushover. Their pass rush in particular has created havoc on opposing quarterbacks in their most recent games. The Cards are trying to wrap up the division title, but I have to go with the Rams in an upset in this one. I'm particularly impressed with their defense in recent weeks, shutting out two opponents in back-to-back weeks. Besides, they've really solidified the quarterback position with the return of Shaun Hill. I think they'll be effective on offense, and domineering on defense in this Thursday night affair.
Rams 23, Cardinals 20

Sunday's games
Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m.
The Steelers just might have saved their season with that big win over the Bengals last week. Here's where it gets difficult for them though. They travel to Atlanta this week, and then host the Chiefs and Bengals in their final two games. I'm making a bold prediction right now, and giving the final two playoff spots in the American Football Conference (AFC) to the Ravens and Dolphins. As for the Falcons, they end the season against the Saints and Panthers so they really control their own destiny as far as winning the National Football Conference's (NFC) South Division is concerned. This one should really be a high-scoring battle, but I'll give the edge to the Falcons in the dome. It might be close, but they'll get the job done and finally win a game against an AFC North opponent.
Falcons 37, Steelers 34

Jacksonville Jaguars at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.
The Ravens are in full playoff mode right now. That was evident with that statement win over the Dolphins in Miami last week. Justin Forsett is running like an animal, and that defense is bringing the pressure from the ends and up the middle. The Jaguars aren't strong enough to play the role of spoiler successfully. They're near the bottom of the league in run defense, so expect a heavy dose of Forsett and Bernard Pierce in this one for the Ravens. The effectiveness of Steve Smith Sr. in the passing game will only add to the woes of the Jags in this one.
Ravens 30, Jaguars 16

Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m.
Speaking of teams in full playoff mode, the Packers might just be the class of the NFC right now. They've risen to No. 1 in the power rankings and will most likely be the top seed in the NFC heading into the playoffs. The only weakness I see with the Packers right now is on the defensive end, and that might haunt them when they go up against the likes of Seattle and the "Legion of Boom" in the playoffs. Meanwhile, this Bills team is a sneaky bunch. Quite frankly, their pass rush and ball-hawking secondary scares me. They could certainly bring the pressure defensively, but offensively I don't know if they'll be able to score enough points to keep with Aaron Rodgers and the Pack.
Packers 27, Bills 20

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m.
If Cam Newton was playing in this one, I'd take Carolina in a heartbeat. However, he suffered two transverse fractures in his back in an accident on Tuesday when his truck overturned. With Derek Anderson under center for the Panthers now, I'm not sure how they'll do. One thing I'm certain about though, is that defense they played on Drew Brees and the Saints last week. They held the high-powered Saints to less than 300 yards passing and forced a couple of turnovers. It might not be the same dominating defense that was led by Greg Hardy last year, but there is some talent there. I think they'll have an encore performance at home, particularly against a Bucs team that just can't seem to do anything right.
Panthers 24, Buccaneers 20

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m.
The Johnny Manziel era is officially underway in Cleveland. They're still very much alive in the playoff race but then again so are the Bengals who have high aspirations of locking up the division title. I think the Bengals will finally create some separation between themselves and the bottom feeders in this division. Quite frankly, they're a much better team than the Browns at this point. The Browns defeated them soundly in Cincy earlier this season, and don't think for a second that the Bengals forgot that. In fact, after that game, Bengals' rookie running back Jeremy Hill went on record to say that the Bengals are still better than the Browns. I think they'll come out and prove it on Sunday.
Bengals 27, Browns 21

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m.
The Colts could wrap up a division title with a victory over the Texans on Sunday. I fully expect them to take advantage of that, especially in their own building. I think Andrew Luck will have the league's number one offense clicking on all cylinders. The Colts' third-year quarterback is in the Most Valuable Player (MVP) discussion right now, even though most expect that to go to Aaron Rodgers. Luck could very well break Peyton Manning's single-season passing record this year. Even if he doesn't he'll certainly top the 5,000-yard passing mark for the first time in his career. With Luck passing the ball all over the field, the Texans will watch as their slim playoff hopes fade away.
Colts 33, Texans 23

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots, 1 p.m.
Like the Colts, Tom Brady and the Pats could also wrap up their division with a win on Sunday. Unlike the Colts, I think they'll fail miserably though. The Dolphins is one of those teams that always give Brady and the Pats problems, no matter where they play - in South Florida or up north in Foxborough. The pass rush of the Dolphins has slowed down in recent weeks, but the Pats don't really have the blockers to keep the likes of Cameron Wake and Olivier Vernon off Tom Brady. On the other side of the ball, despite an ailing Dolphins' offensive line, the Pats don't have the pass rushers to bring pressure consistently like the Ravens did last week. I think that will make a huge difference in this AFC East battle.
Dolphins 27, Patriots 24

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m.
It's now or never for the Kansas City Chiefs. They'll probably have to win out in order to make the playoffs. Fortunately for them, they have the Raiders coming to town this week, so that should be able to stop the bleeding from three straight losses. Don't expect the Chiefs to lay an egg and hand the Raiders another victory like they did three weeks ago. With the Steelers and Chargers lurking on the schedule, they need to win this game if they want to make the playoffs. I think they'll get back to smash mouth football with Jamaal Charles leading the way on offense, and Justin Houston and Tamba Hali wreaking havoc on defense.
Chiefs 24, Raiders 13

Washington Redskins at N.Y. Giants, 1 p.m.
It appears that Colt McCoy will get the nod over Robert Griffin III (RG3) for the Redskins again this week. I think the 'Skins might be better off going back to RG3. In his latest outing last week, McCoy couldn't get anything going offensively against the Rams, and that was at home. Despite his sporadic play, RG3 has never been shut out in his career. Be that as it may, the 'Skins have many issues they need to address, not just at the quarterback position. Defensively, I don't know if they'll be able to do anything much against Eli Manning and the Giants. Andre Williams had 131 yards on the ground for the Giants last week, and Odell Beckham Jr. is racking up the yards through the air.
Giants 31, Redskins 17

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers, 4:05 p.m.
Peyton Manning and the Broncos also have division clinching aspirations this weekend, and they're the only team that can do it on the road, silencing the opposing crowd. Watching the Chargers play last week, they struggled in the second half to get anything going offensively. If they can't muster up a consistent offensive attack against the Pats' 13th ranked defense then I don't expect them to have much success against the fourth ranked unit of the Broncos. On the other side of the ball, Peyton and the Broncos don't take much drives off, no matter who is on the other side of the field. I think they'll have another balanced offensive attack on Sunday, and send the Chargers reeling to another home loss.
Broncos 34, Chargers 23

N.Y. Jets at Tennessee Titans, 4:05 p.m.
The only reason I'm picking the Jets in this game is because of Chris Johnson returning to Nashville, and wanting to prove to the Titans that letting him go was a mistake. I expect for him to have a big day against his former team running the ball. Besides, Head Coach Rex Ryan is finally letting Geno Smith throw the ball, and last week, the results weren't that bad even though he did throw another pick six. Apart from that, he completed 18-of-29 passes for 254 yards. The Jets right now are basically playing for the jobs of Ryan and General Manager John Idzik. As for Smith, he might be playing for his own job for next year.
Jets 23, Titans 16

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions, 4:25 p.m.
The Lions control their own destiny in the playoff race, and could actually still wrestle the division title away from the Packers if they win out. As spirited and rejuvenated as the Vikings has been this season, I don't think they'll be able to go into Detroit and leave with a win on Sunday. The Matthew Stafford to Calvin "Megatron" Johnson is connecting for the Lions, and they're getting good production out of Joique Bell on the ground. Besides, Reggie Bush is back for this team and that only adds to the offensive arsenal of the Lions. They'll get a big win at home this week, and maintain pace with the Packers in the NFC North.
Lions 34, Vikings 20

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks, 4:25 p.m.
The Niners playoff hopes for 2014 have just about vanished. That was evident with that loss they suffered to the lowly Raiders last week. Looking forward to next year, Head Coach Jim Harbaugh might be out of a job, but the Niners should have a healthy Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman coming back to go along with the Smith tandem of Aldon and Justin. Their defense will be dominant again, but for now, the 'Hawks would love nothing better than to put the final nail in the coffins of their nemesis and division rival. Look for the Seahawks to take complete control of this game, and send the Niners reeling to another loss.
Seahawks 27, 49ers 16

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, 8:30 p.m.
This division battle on Sunday night could very well determine the winner of the NFC East title. I expect it to go pretty much like the Thanksgiving Day affair in which the Eagles blasted the Cowboys. The Cowboys have two of the better skilled position players in football in Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray, but the Eagles are more well-rounded. Each time they've had a loss this season, Chip Kelly and crew have followed it up with a dominant victory. I don't think this week will be any different. The Eagles haven't lost two straight games all year, and it won't start now.
Eagles 37, Cowboys 20

Monday's game
New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears, 8:30 p.m.
I can't even trust the Bears to play the role of spoiler effectively. I had them in a potential upset against the Cowboys last week, and their defense was deplorable. DeMarco Murray had almost 200 yards on the ground on them, and Tony Romo passed for three scores against no interceptions. Drew Brees and the Saints will have a field day on Monday night. The only thing that might save the Bears in this game is if it's snowing in the "Windy City". If that's the case, Brees and the Saints might have problems passing the ball, but a steady dose of Mark Ingram should help them in their task of knocking off the Bears.
Saints 30, Bears 28

WEEK 14: 14-2
OVERALL: 136-71-1

WEEK 15
Thursday's game
Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams, 8:25 p.m.
This game is absolutely vital for the Cardinals to win because this marks the start of three straight division games to close out the season. If they go 1-2 or 0-3 over the next three weeks, they could very well be out of the playoff picture. The Rams will be a very tough opponent and the way they play at home makes it hard for me to believe Arizona can get a crucial road win. I expect this to be a low-scoring affair, but I like St. Louis playing a smash mouth game and securing the victory.
Rams 17, Cardinals 12

Sunday's games
Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m.
It's a good thing my Falcons are unbeaten in the division because they have been pretty bad playing teams outside of the NFC South. That division record is keeping them alive for playoff contention, while Pittsburgh has to win out to ensure themselves of a wild card spot. The status of Julio Jones is uncertain, recovering from bruised ribs after his huge night against the Packers on Monday. If he's not 100 percent, then Atlanta will have a tough time putting points on the board. Steelers' running back Le'Veon Bell has arguably been the best back in football and I expect him to have another big day en route to an important victory in the Georgia Dome.
Steelers 24, Falcons 16

Jacksonville Jaguars at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.
After the Ravens' very impressive win last week against a good Miami team in South Florida, I can't imagine a North Florida Jaguars team going into chilly Baltimore and keeping this game close. The Ravens are on a mission and they won't drop a crucial game to a bad team.
Ravens 31, Jaguars 10

Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m.
Kyle Orton will have another tall task trying to keep pace with Aaron Rodgers' high-octane offense, and quite frankly I don't think he can put up more than 21 points with his arm. The Packers is the hottest team in the league. I just don't see the Bills stampeding over them.
Packers 31, Bills 21

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m.
With Cam Newton's car accident sidelining him for this game, I believe it really hurt Carolina's chances to make a late playoff surge to win the NFC South. I don't know if this game will result in a loss because of his absence since Derek Anderson is a solid backup, but the Panthers will have to pick up its intensity on defense and have great production in the run game. I believe Carolina will survive, but the next two weeks might be a different story.
Panthers 23, Buccaneers 21

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m.
The "Johnny Football" era begins in Week 15 of the season, where the Browns are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. Personally, I think this move will hurt Cleveland because it's too late in the season to change the quarterback and the Bengals will be locked in defensively to keep their division lead in the AFC North. I expect Cincy to make Johnny Manziel's debut a miserable one and secure a key division win.
Bengals 27, Browns 7

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m.
The Colts can officially lock up the AFC South with a win against the Texans on Sunday and I believe they will do so behind another strong performance from Andrew Luck. I don't think Houston will lay down and concede defeat, but Indy will handle business and keep their chances for home field advantage alive.
Colts 30, Texans 20

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots, 1 p.m.
Miami had an opportunity to control their own destiny in the playoff race with a win last week, but now they will have to win out and rely on tiebreakers to get them a wild card berth. New England has revenge on their minds after the Dolphins pulled off the upset at the start of the season, and I believe that this game won't be very close after the second quarter. Expect a big day from Tom Brady en route to a comfortable victory.
Patriots 34, Dolphins 16

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m.
Even though the Raiders pulled off a very impressive win against the 49ers last week, I don't see them having much of a chance against a Chiefs team trying to get back in the win column. Jamaal Charles will have a great day on the ground, and a wide receiver will catch a touchdown pass for the first time this season.
Chiefs 28, Raiders 10

Washington Redskins at N.Y. Giants, 1 p.m.
Washington has a chance to pull off an upset here, but with all of the internal turmoil that's happening with that team I don't think winning football games is a priority any more. As long as Eli Manning can be decent on Sunday, the G-men should emerge victorious.
Giants 27, Redskins 17

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers, 4:05 p.m.
Denver has switched up their offensive formula. They have added a heavy dose of running to their already potent passing attack led by Peyton Manning. That game plan will have to be executed effectively in order to leave San Diego with a victory. I believe the Broncos will have a tough time getting this win. The Chargers are playing some good football, but their lack of talent to match Denver's own will prove to be the difference in this game. This is essentially a playoff game for them, and although they may keep it close, the Broncos will be too much for them.
Broncos 23, Chargers 17

N.Y. Jets at Tennessee Titans, 4:05 p.m.
As long as Geno Smith is the starter for the Jets, they won't win another game. The Titan fans will have something to cheer about on Sunday for a change.
Titans 27, Jets 16

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions, 4:25 p.m.
The Vikings have been playing some solid football over the past several weeks and I believe this team will be much improved next season. They will try to play the role of spoiler this week and foil Detroit's chances at a playoff berth, but I don't see the Lions dropping a pivotal division game at home. As long as Detroit's defense can keep the pressure on Teddy "Two Gloves" Bridgewater and play discipline football, then they should capture this win at home.
Lions 28, Vikings 17

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks, 4:25 p.m.
This would've been my pick for game of the week, but the 49ers are in such disarray that this game won't be close for long. Seattle has its sights set on winning the NFC West and that championship pedigree is starting to show late in the season. Russell Wilson will once again be stellar in a win and Colin "One Read" Kaepernick will come up short.
Seahawks 24, 49ers 10

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, 8:30 p.m.
Dallas has revenge on their minds after Philly embarrassed them on Thanksgiving Day and I believe the Cowboys will do just that on Sunday night. Tony Romo would love to change his December reputation and play at a high level and I believe he will play a mistake-free game and put his team in a position to win. If Romo can get going early, then it will make DeMarco "Spray Tan" Murray's job much easier and put the pressure on Mark Sanchez to keep pace. If Dallas can follow the blueprint Seattle laid out to beat the Eagles to perfection, then I see no reason why they can't secure their 10th victory of the year.
Cowboys 30, Eagles 17

Monday's game
New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears, 8:30 p.m.
With both of these quarterbacks struggling this year and their teams underachieving, all we can hope for in this Monday night match-up is an entertaining shootout. The Saints still have something at stake, and I believe that they will play with a sense of urgency and try to keep their season alive. With Brandon Marshall out for the season, Jay Cutler will actually be less predictable and can move the ball amongst his receivers better. As tempting as it is to believe Chicago will defend Soldier Field on a cold December night, I have to trust my Super Bowl pick to actually win a game for a change.
Saints 28, Bears 20

WEEK 14: 9-7
OVERALL: 121-86-1

WEEK 15
Thursday's game
Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams, 8:25 p.m.
The Rams have a legitimate shot at winning this game tonight. Jeff Fisher has been winning the coaching battles against opponents and he has motivated this group to be physical on the field. However, the Cardinals are very well coached as well, and despite the injuries, they have been solid on defense and just enough on offense. The Cardinals will be solid, but these divisional match-ups are always tough on the road. I think the Rams squeak one out.
Rams 17, Cardinals 16

Sunday's games
Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m.
The Steelers have been okay on the road and not so good at home. Playing against the Falcons who have high hopes to win their division, they will have all they can handle. Even though these teams are not in the same division, this will be treated like a playoff game because it is a must-win for both teams. I think the home field will be more beneficial for the Falcons, and Matt Ryan pulls out a clutch, late game win in the last 60 seconds of this one.
Falcons 27, Steelers 23

Jacksonville Jaguars at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.
The Ravens smell the playoffs, and the Jaguars are in their way. I can't imagine the Jaguars being spoilers. They have been horrible this year.
Ravens 24, Jaguars 13

Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills, 1 p.m.
This game is a bit scary for the Packers. They go on the road to a town in western New York that waits for Sundays just to watch their Bills play. The Packers haven't been great on the road, but they sit in a prime position to be in control over the whole NFC going into the postseason. I think Aaron Rodgers will have his issues with the league leaders in sacks, but it won't be enough to stop him. The Packers will win a close one.
Packers 27, Bills 24

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers, 1 p.m.
At 4-8-1, the Panthers are one win away from being in first place in the NFC South. That is one reason why we know the current playoff format is absolute trash. Why should a team that can't reach the .500 mark be allowed into the postseason? Unfortunately, Cam Newton is out of this game, but fortunately for them, they play the Buccaneers. The Panthers will pull out an impressive win in this one.
Panthers 24, Buccaneers 13

Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns, 1 p.m.
Finally the moment we all want to see has come. Johnny Manziel, better known as "Johnny Football", will get the start in Cleveland against the Bengals on Sunday. I think Manziel will play great, but I think the Bengals have revenge on their minds, and Andy Dalton won't put up a stinker like he did last month against this team.
Bengals 23, Browns 21

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m.
The Texans have been playing well down the stretch of this season, but the Colts have won the last three games, and they look to extend that streak going into the end of the season.
Colts 31, Texans 23

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots, 1 p.m.
The Dolphins manhandled the Patriots the first game of the season, but this game will be a bit different. The Patriots are hot, and they are a force going into the postseason. The Dolphins are looking weaker every week going into the postseason, and for that reason, the Patriots should win this game at home.
Patriots 34, Dolphins 24

Oakland Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m.
The Raiders whipped the Chiefs earlier this season, and the Chiefs will not let that happen again, especially at home.
Chiefs 24, Raiders 16

Washington Redskins at N.Y. Giants, 1 p.m.
The Redskins is the saddest organization in football at the moment. With all of the uncertainty surrounding the team, I can't imagine that they will be focused and ready to play on Sunday against the Giants.
Giants 27, Redskins 13

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers, 4:05 p.m.
The Chargers are trying to make the push to grab a wildcard spot, but the Broncos are making a push to win the top seed in the AFC. The Broncos win just because of talent and determination.
Broncos 28, Chargers 17

N.Y. Jets at Tennessee Titans, 4:05 p.m.
Chris Johnson returns to Tennessee, and he will put on one more show for the Titans fans. I think Chris Johnson will run for 150 yards and two touchdowns, and the Jets will win.
Jets 23, Titans 15

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions, 4:25 p.m.
The Lions hope to grab a wildcard spot. They need to play desperate football to get a spot in the postseason. Desperation wins this game for the Lions.
Lions 24, Vikings 20

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks, 4:25 p.m.
The 49ers and the Seahawks are going in different directions. The Seahawks beat the 49ers earlier in the season, and now they prepare to sweep them. The 49ers with Alex Smith there would be an NFC West leader right now. With Colin Kaepernick, they may end up a game outside of last place.
Seahawks 24, 49ers 17

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles, 8:30 p.m.
The Cowboys have to prove to me that they can win in December, especially on the road. Until they prove that, I am going with the other side.
Eagles 31, Cowboys 24

Monday's game
New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears, 8:30 p.m.
Both of these teams are 5-8. The Saints at 5-8 have the same record as their division leaders, the Falcons, in the NFC South. The Bears at 5-8 sit at the bottom of the NFC North, so even though one team hopes to land a spot in the playoffs, the other team has no chance. It's not fair, but it is the way the NFL is set up. Having said that, I have no faith in the Saints at home. They are not at home, so I am picking them to win over the Brandon Marshall-less Bears.
