Be An Angel this Christmas

With Christmas right around the corner, the Water and Sewerage Corporation (WSC) is embracing the spirit of the season by giving back to the Elizabeth Estates Children’s Home.

Earlier this year, MIYA Bahamas partnered with the WSC to host MIYA’s annual ‘Good Deeds Day’ at the Elizabeth Estates Children’s Home where they beautified and upgraded the facility. The home and its occupants made such an impression that he WSC decided to ask the community to join them in giving these children a wonderful Christmas.

To help fulfill the children’s wishes WSC is encouraging everyone to be an angel this holiday by purchasing a gift for a child at the home. The children at the home have created angels with gift requests that have been hung on a Christmas tree in the foyer of the WSC main office on Thompson Boulevard. The public is invited to stop by and choose an angel, then purchase either the gift requested or an age appropriate gift for the child whose angel they choose.

"The Water and Sewerage Corporation is very pleased to partner with MIYA to support the children at Elizabeth Estates Children's Home. The Christmas Angels project gave our staff a wonderful opportunity to help the children decorate their own Christmas tree, and prepare paper angels on which they wrote their Christmas wishes,” said Sandra Edgecombe, CFO Water and Sewerage Corporation.

“We are also thrilled that MIYA has started the ball rolling, by generously donating gift certificates for each child at the Home. The Corporation invites the public to join us in making this Christmas especially merry and bright for the children at the Elizabeth Estates Children's Home."

While the WSC and Miya teams have encouraged all of the youngsters at the home to make their wish lists, they recognize that older kids may not want toys, but prefer other types of presents.

“As the majority of the children in the home are teenagers, Miya is giving each child a gift certificate to spend on what they want!” said Sofia Kanellopoulou, Project Manager, Miya Bahamas. “We at Miya hope this shows the children of the home that there are indeed Angels out there watching over them, especially during this Christmas season.”

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support and look forward to the long relationship with the Water and Sewerage Corporation and Miya Bahamas,” said Rae Pinder, Administrator at the Elizabeth Estates Children’s Home. “The children will be most appreciative of the presents and attention.”
