Jingle Bell Jazz

Forget the jingle bell rocking -- because it's all about the jingle bell jazz this weekend as the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise hosts its second Jingle Bell Jazz event and fifth jazz event this weekend.
The event that Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise fundraising coordinator Deno Moss says patrons should attend with two pairs of shoes -- because they may just dance out their first pair before the end of the night -- will feature the likes of Naomi Taylor-Crawford, Clinton Crawford, Fred Ferguson, Anja Bowe, Dion Turnquest, Tino Richardson, Daddy Long Legs and Johnathan Farrington.
Jingle Bell Jazz patrons will get to take in artists like Taylor-Crawford who is an extraordinary singer with a luxuriant, silky and sophisticated tonality to her voice that speaks to the heart of her listeners; her husband Clinton Crawford whose dynamic and stirring voice spans Soul, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Reggae and Calypso.
Also on the line up is Fred Ferguson, one of The Bahamas' most inventive guitarists who will bring a refreshing twist to the evening with an infectious and tasty fusion of Calypso Jazz to the mix; Anja Bowe who has blossomed on the entertainment scene as an up and coming Bahamian treasure with a mesmerizing voice; along with tenor saxophonist Dion Turnquest; alto saxophonist Tino Richardson.
Jingle Bell Jazz takes place on Saturday at the Bahamas National Trust. The event will feature a VIP dinner for those that want to dine while enjoying the music, a general lounge for those that want to simply enjoy the music, and a cigar lounge for those that want to indulge in a nice smoke.
"We're expecting a lively, fun, jazz, dance party," said Moss who said they have increased the space allocated to the dance floor after last year's event, and as they are expecting at least 400 patrons.
"We've maxed out previous events where there was standing room only. This year at Jingle Bell Jazz we're expecting a really nice crowd," said Moss.
With two different classes of tickets offered, patrons can opt for the VIP Dinner ticket at $125 or $1,000 for eight seats including dinner, drinks, gifts and entertainment, with dinner served between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.; or the general admission tickets at $50 per ticket for the concert with food for sale; a cigar lounge will also be available between 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. for those patrons that want to enjoy a smoke.
Although money is tight for everyone, Moss said that the Rotary Club of Nassau Sunrise encourages people to patronize their fundraising event to allow them to raise as much money as they can to support the club's charities.
"We need to raise as much [money] as possible because a lot of people are hurting and we would like to make sizeable donations to our charities, as there is a lot of work to be done," said Moss.
