Music has a unique way of bringing people together.

On Saturday, November 1st, an eclectic group of popular artists, musicians and personalities will gather at Bahamas Faith Ministries’ Diplomat Center to honor the couple whose lives impacted generations of young people.

The “Rough neck” pastor, Dr. Dave Burrows and his wife, Pastor Angela Burrows will be honored in a tribute concert celebrating more than three decades of youth work.

Their 34 years of service has influenced the lives of many including Kent Johnson of Christian Massive, the popular reggae and calypso gospel group which started in 1993.

At the time, Pastor Dave was already well-known in the community as an outspoken youth pastor whose personal transformation inspired many.

“It’s been a long time in coming,” says event organizer Radel Parks.

The playwright describes the planned tribute as “a great time of coming back to the place where we once all grew as family in Christ under the teachings of Pastors Dave and Angie.”

She recounts first meeting them as an impressionable fourteen year old.

There are similar stories among many of the artists who will pay tribute through music, myme, comedy and drama.

Some of whom will travel from abroad. Delano Johnson and Antonio 'Tones' Thompson of the Grammy Award nominated group “System 3” will travel home from New York and California respectively to join group founder and talk show personality Kevin Harris.

They will share the stage with a household name, Orlando “Landlord” Miller who will perform his hit songs including the classic “Ten Commandments” and the international hit “We Need Peace” which features Jamaican artist, Luciano. Bahamian Dove Award winning artist Stefan Moss, “the Syntyst,” who resides in Atlanta, Georgia will also perform. He and Dana Knowles will perform as “Ekklesia,” the popular group that energized the youngsters of the 1990’s. At the time, Stefan was known as “the preacher.”

Peter Runks, Fyah Lynx, Double Syx and Cory Rolle “DJ Counsellor,” will treat the audience to a blend of their popular classics and new releases.

Minister Raymond Eneas, motivational speaker and author will join youth pastor Lavard “Manifest” Parks to perform hit songs from their time as the hip hop group “Supernatural.”

Manifest describes the opportunity as a “Back to the future moment…I will also be taking the stage as the new youth Pastor who was once a youth who grew up under this great couple.”

Raymond resides in Florida and coauthored the book, “Mind of Success” with Pastor Dave. Pastor Lavard now serves as Pastor Dave’s successor at Bahamas Faith Ministries. Both were mentored by Pastors Dave and Angie.

The concert will also feature mime artist Lenelle Sawyer. In addition, the special night will feature the mime group, “Reborn,” considered to be the first group of its kind in Nassau and credited for opening doors of opportunity for other mime groups of the 1990’s.

Group founder Joey Alleyne, now a California resident, will reunite with Toinette Mackey for a tribute to remember.

The concert will be held this Saturday, November 1st starting at 7:30pm at Bahamas Faith Ministries.

Tickets are $10. For more information, persons may call 461-6449 or email daveandangietribute@gmail.com.
