A brief statement from the Cabinet Office reveals that an order was delivered to the Acting Governor General Tuesday following Cabinet, to have Mr. Wells’ appointment revoked as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Works.

Bahamas National understands that there was a reported special meeting with Mr. Wells and the Prime Minister just before Mr. Christie left for Harbour Island on Friday.

Mr. Christie, being compassionate over the two-month saga, has asked Wells to formally explain himself in the Parliament. Wells refused and failed to even show up in the Chamber.

A short statement issued by the Cabinet late tonight read:

The Cabinet Office advises that the Governor General, acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister, has directed that the office of Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Urban Development become vacant.
