Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks, 8:30 p.m.
What a way to start the season! Fail Mary re-lived! As much as I like the Seahawks and the 'Legion of Boom' in the National Football Conference (NFC), it's quite interesting to note that the last Super Bowl Champion to return to the Super Bowl the following year was the Patriots over a decade ago. With the balance that the Seahawks bring on both sides of the ball, I could definitely see them breaking that trend though. The Seahawks are the real deal... but so is Aaron Rodgers and the Packers! As a matter of fact, if this game was being played at Lambeau, I might be going with the Pack in this game. It's not, so...

Sunday's Games
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m.
The Saints is definitely one of the top three teams in the NFC, and could very well find themselves in Glendale, Arizona in February playing in the Super Bowl. To do that, they have to show consistency outside of the Superdome though. They're near flawless in the dome but have been known to struggle outside of it, especially early in the season. I like the Falcons in an upset in this one. They have a healthy Julio Jones back, and Matt Ryan is one of the more underrated passers in the league. I think Steven Jackson will have a strong bounce-back year for them, and their defense promises to be a bit stronger. Besides, they always play well in the Georgia Dome.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.
Arguably the two top teams in the American Football Conference's (AFC) North Division get together on Sunday afternoon in what should be an intense, physical battle. The Bengals could very well challenge the Broncos and Patriots for AFC supremacy this year, and the Ravens always play with pride and figure to make another strong run at the playoffs. I have to go with the youthful Bengals in this one though. It will be interesting to see how Geno Atkins looks coming back from a severe ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injury, but the Bengals are potent regardless. On offense, A,J. Green is a top five receiver in my book, and Giovani Bernard is one of the more exciting, elusive backs in the league. Defensively, they're top notch.

Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears, 1 p.m.
The Bears promises to be strong as well with Jay Cutler throwing to arguably the best wide receiver tandem in the league, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. In the backfield, Matt Forte is a 1,000-yard back. The only question for them, is will they be able to keep Cutler upright and injury-free. They should be able to handle the hapless Bills regardless. I have the Bears making the playoffs this year, and it starts with a demolition of the Bills on Sunday.

Washington Redskins at Houston Texans, 1 p.m.
Both of these teams were less than impressive in the pre-season, and figure to be in for a couple of rough rides in the regular season. I think they'll both struggle mightily.... again. The Texans are a bit more talented with the likes of Arian Foster, Andre Johnson and new multi-million dollar man J.J. Watt on defense, but they still have Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing the ball on offense which likely means multiple picks by the secondary of the 'Skins. Besides, the 'Skins still have the most explosive man on the field in RG3.
Redskins 20, Texans 17

Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m.
After a resilient run at the playoffs a year ago, the Chiefs figure to once again be a contender in the AFC. In Jamaal Charles, they have the best running back in the conference. As long as Alex Smith manages the game properly and stays away from crucial turnovers, the Chiefs should win this game. I think he and that Chiefs offense will put up at least 20 points, and allow the defense to do the rest.

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m.
The big question in South Florida, is what kind of season will my Dolphins have? Has the team gotten over the bullying scandal that caused a stir around the league the latter part of last season? Will Knowshon Moreno make a difference in the backfield? Will Ryan Tannehill prove that he can throw the long ball? Most importantly, how will the new-look offensive line hold up? With Tom Brady and the Patriots coming to town, the Fins will be challenged immediately. Be that as it may, they always play the Pats tough in South Florida, especially in the heat in early September. I look for the Fins to move the ball effectively, and pressure Brady on the defensive side, to come out on top in this one.
Dolphins 27, Patriots 24

Oakland Raiders at N.Y. Jets, 1 p.m.
As much as I hate the Jets, I have to admit that they appear to be much improved this season. Their defense is top notch, and Geno Smith might work that Bahamian magic this season and have a solid bounce-back year. I don't expect him to suffer much of a sophomore jinx this season. He's rejuvenated, and should show it on the field. Quite frankly, he'll have to in order to keep Micheal Vick at bay. The elusive Vick is hungry to get another crack at a starting spot in the NFL. Geno and the Jets should be alright in the short run though.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles, 1 p.m.
Most analysts are picking the Eagles to run away with the NFC East division. I think they'll win, but it will be a much closer than most expect. I look for the Redskins to bounce back in that division, and challenge the Eagles for the top spot. Nick Foles and company won't have any problems with the Jags this Sunday though. This very well might turn out to be the most lopsided game of the week. LeSean 'Shady' McCoy might run for 2,000 yards this season, Foles will be efficient again throwing the ball, and the Eagles' defense will definitely be much improved. The Jags don't stand much of a chance.

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m.
After missing the playoffs for the second straight year last season, and not making much moves in the offseason, I don't expect the Steelers to make any serious noise. They'll still be competitive, but "Big" Ben Roethlisberger is slowing down, and their defense is not what it used to be. Antonio Brown could be a Pro Bowler at the wide receiver spot, but the Steelers don't have that much depth at that position, and in the backfield Le'Veon Bell has not progressed like he should. I still have the Steelers winning this game, but I think they'll falter eventually and miss the playoffs for the third year in a row.

Minnesota Vikings at St. Louis Rams, 1 p.m.
Can Shaun Hill save the Rams' season? I think not. It's quite unfortunate what happened to Sam Bradford in the pre-season, going down with another season-ending ACL injury. They had so much promise this season, but now without Bradford, it will become increasingly more difficult. The Rams are still solid defensively, but I seriously doubt Shaun Hill will be able to get the job done offensively. Meanwhile, a healthy Adrian Peterson is back for the Vikings and will be looking to start another 2,000-yard campaign on Sunday. In my opinion, he's not just the best running back, but the best player in the National Football League. Adrian "All Day" Peterson will show his worth on Sunday.

San Francisco 49ers at Dallas Cowboys, 4:25 p.m.
Not even Jerry Jones is optimistic about these Cowboys? When your owner comes out says that the season is going to be an "uphill battle", you know that you have your work cut out for you. Quite frankly, I thought it was modest of the Cowboys owner to sat that. The Cowboys defense sucks! Offensively, they have some weapons in Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and DeMarco Murray, but defensively thay can't stop anybody. The Niners have problems of their own to deal with, but none of them are offensively. They'll be able to score some points against this Cowboys defense for sure, and defensively, they'll have enough to contain Tony "Oh No" and crew.

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:25 p.m.
The Bucs is another one of those teams that figures to be much improved this year. Josh McCown was pretty good in subbing for Jay Cutler in Chicago last year, and as the Bucs' starting quarterback this season, he should be much improved. Also, with the drafting of Mike Evans, he has two huge targets to throw to, like he did last year in Chi Town. Vincent Jackson and Evans should make life much easier for McCown, and Doug Martin should have a huge bounce-back year running the ball. Logan Mankins will solidify their offensive line, and Gerald McCoy will bring the heat defensively. Expect the Bucs to be a force to reckon with in the NFC South. Meanwhile, Cam Newton and the Panthers will take a step back. They'll still be competitive though.

Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos, 8:30 p.m.
It's a sure bet that Peyton Manning will be looking for retribution when these two AFC heavyweights meet in the Mile High City on Sunday night. Andrew Luck and the Colts won the first round in Indy last year, but you better believe Manning and the Broncos will be ready for them this time around. The Broncos has improved on both sides of the ball, especially defensively where they will have one of the top units this season. It's hard to imagine that they can be any better offensively, but with the acquisition of Emmanuel Sanders, I think they'll spread the field more and take more chances downfield. The Broncos lost Knowshon Moreno to the Dolphins, but Montee Ball is expected to fill in admirably. The Colts will be tough to beat this season as well, but it's not their time yet. Sit back Andrew Luck and watch a master at work.

Monday's Games
N.Y. Giants at Detroit Lions, 7:10 p.m.
The Lions have all the tools to be a top notch team in the NFC but they haven't exactly proved their worth over the past few seasons. This could be the year they make a serious push for the playoffs - a place they've been just once since the start of the century. Calvin Johnson is still the best receiver in football. If Matthew Stafford can stay healthy, and stay away from a ton of interceptions this year, the Lions could make some noise. Meanwhile, Eli Manning and the G-men are slipping. I have them finishing third in the NFC East this year, and missing the playoffs for the third straight year.
Lions 30, Giants 19

San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals, 10:20 p.m.
A number of analysts having the Chargers making the playoffs year. Philip Rivers had a pretty impressive 2013 campaign, but I don't think the Chargers have enough weapons to challenge the upper echelon teams in the AFC. They snuck into the playoffs last year, but I don't see them doing it again. The Cards, on the other hand, are much improved and can make a serious playoff push especially with the Niners less than 100 percent. They'll have some challenges, playing in the same division with the Super Bowl Champs, but look for them to be right in the thick of things at the end of the season. However, I think that this Monday night affair will be close, and a late score will push the Chargers over the top.

NFL Week One

Well it's that time again, the best part of the year, the NFL season! I'm glad to be back with this band of "pigskin" picking misfits and a few "newbies" for what should be an exciting 2014 NFL campaign. This week I'm just going to give you the winners and the scores. I will start elaborating on my picks next week.
Now before I turn into "Naughtydamus" and hit you with the winners I need to get two things out of the way.

NFL Week One

Thursday's Game
Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks, 8:30 p.m.
The title defense for the Seahawks begins on Thursday and despite losing a couple of key pieces on both sides of the ball, they probably won't lose a step in production. Seattle will face a formidable opponent in Green Bay and an elite quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, so an opening night victory at home won't be a sure thing. The Packers boast an improved defense with Julius Peppers on the front seven, and his impact will be felt as the season progresses. However, it's hard to pick against the champs with the 12th man on its side, and having a rising star in Russell Wilson behind center makes my choice easier. This could very well be a postseason preview, but I like the Seahawks to capture the first win of the NFL season.

Sunday's Games
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m.
If I had to choose a sleeper team to make it to the Super Bowl this year, it would be this year's New Orleans squad. Its offense and defense were top five last year, and the combination of young players developing and offseason acquisitions will elevate them to an elite team this year. As for the Falcons, they're hoping to rebound from a disappointing season filled with injuries. I believe my Falcons will return to playoff form this season, and if its defense can be effective enough to contain opponents, Matt Ryan and his offense will do the rest. I expect the Falcons to defend its home turf on Sunday in a high-scoring game and squeeze out a victory.
Falcons 34, Saints 31

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.
Division games to start off the season will always produce fireworks, and these teams are the epitome of explosiveness on both sides of the ball. The Bengals have a lot to prove this season and will try its best to erase the label of "regular season warriors" from the heads of NFL pundits. As for Baltimore, I believe that they will be the dark horse of the AFC - mostly because of the addition of Steve Smith to the roster. The toughness he brings to the table will be a difference maker this season, and he fits well with Joe Flacco's playing style. This game won't lack competitiveness, but I give the edge to Baltimore because the overall balance in all aspects will be on display and eventually overwhelm Cincy on Sunday. The Ravens is my favorite to win the AFC North and I believe the Bengals will miss the playoffs, and my prediction will be validated on Sunday.

Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears, 1 p.m.
As inconsistent as Chicago was last year - especially on defense - they were a few minutes away from winning the NFC North title. The questions still remain about the defense, but the addition of pass rush specialist Jared Allen is a step in the right direction. Meanwhile, Buffalo should be tired of being the doormat of the AFC East and second-year starter E.J. Manuel will have to lead the charge. I'm still not convinced that he will elevate the Bills to the level of the bathroom rugs of the division (Dolphins and Jets), and he surely won't lead them to be the home owners (Patriots). As for Sunday, I like Chicago at home.

Washington Redskins at Houston Texans, 1 p.m.
With all of the controversy surrounding the Redskins on and off the field, it's safe to assume that the distraction could play a huge role in the outcome. Robert Griffin III has struggled with Head Coach Jay Gruden's offense in the preseason and is having difficulties adjusting to being a pure pocket passer. As the season progresses, I believe he will return to his pre-injury form, and having Desean Jackson as a deep threat will be a difference maker. Houston has all the ingredients to be a great team, but no chef to cook a winning recipe at the quarterback position. Despite being 2-14 a year ago, its defense ranked in the top 10 and the addition of number one pick Jadaveon Clowney on J.J. Watt's defensive life makes them even scarier. While Houston will make it tough on Washington, not having a capable quarterback won't cut it on Sunday.
Redskins 20, Titans 16

Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m.
The Chiefs were the biggest surprise team from last season, and now that the league has taken notice of Andy Reid's squad, the road will be tougher than last year. The ink on Alex Smith's hefty contract extension has dried and I believe he will prove that last year wasn't a fluke and have this team in the playoff hunt. The Titans are in a rebuild mode right now. It's hard for me to determine their identity at the beginning of the season. A strong effort on both sides of the ball will guarantee a win for Kansas City.
Chiefs 24, Titans 13

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m.
Another season has arrived where I can clown the Dolphins! Before I go down that road, I honestly believe that Miami has the potential to be a playoff team if they can finally put all the pieces together. Ryan Tannehill has to elevate his game to a near top-tier level in order for the postseason to be plausible, and he has the requisite talent in order to do so. As for the Patriots, every year we think that their window is closing, and they somehow manage to be a Super Bowl contender. This is as talented a team that New England has ever had defensively, and Tom Brady can lead a top-10 offense in his sleep. Every game between these teams are always competitive, but I believe the Pats will manage to secure a victory behind a strong defensive effort.

Oakland Raiders at N.Y. Jets, 1 p.m.
Usually I would be able to hang my hat on the Jets' defense to carry the load throughout the season, but its secondary has suffered major losses in the offseason. They might be able to slide past this week against Oakland - which is starting a rookie quarterback - but it will be a challenging season unless Geno Smith has shown major improvement.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles, 1 p.m.
The legend of Nick Foles will write a new chapter in his career starting Sunday, and I believe he will pick up right where he left off last season in terms of leading Chip Kelly's high octane offense. Jacksonville was the laughing stock of the league for the first 12 weeks of last season, but they did a god job of improving its roster during the offseason. However, the defending NFC East champs will impose its will on Sunday and get a comfortable victory.
Eagles 31, Jaguars 16

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m.
Now that the Johnny Manziel frenzy has died, the Browns can now focus on football and see how they measure up against the rest of the league. However, the current state of the roster leads me to believe that they will finish last in the division, solely due to star receiver Josh Gordon being suspended for the entire season and the inexperience of Brian Hoyer as a starter. The Steelers will be in the mix for the AFC North and could very well win the division, but Ben Roethlisberger will have to tap into his clutch gene again. Pittsburgh should win this game with not much resistance.

Minnesota Vikings at St. Louis Rams, 1 p.m.
Speaking of media frenzies, the Rams no longer have to deal with the circus that came with Michael Sam since he made history as the first openly gay player in the NFL. The bigger story for St. Louis is the loss of Sam Bradford for the season with another torn ACL, which puts a lot of pressure on the defense to win games. Surprisingly, the Vikings have slightly more stability than the Rams and Adrian Peterson will make his presence felt this season, starting on Sunday. I like the Vikes in a close one.

San Francisco 49ers at Dallas Cowboys, 4:25 p.m.
The NFL's definition of mediocrity returns to the gridiron on Sunday, and I'm sure Dallas won't disappoint and beat themselves a few times this season. Sunday's game is winnable for them, given that the 49ers are missing key pieces on defense and Colin Kaepernick could possibly have the "payday hangover". The Cowboys could steal this contest. Who am I kidding! The 'Boys in primetime will always find a way to lose while Jerry Jones will provide us with some humorous facial expressions.

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:25 p.m.
I predict Carolina will be one of those teams that won't match its output from last year, and the pressure Cam Newton will be under to do more with less will test his stature as a quarterback. As for the Bucs, having Lovie Smith at the helm will drastically improve this team and they could possibly be in the playoff hunt if Josh McCown can recapture the magic from last season. This will be more of a defensive game on Sunday, but I believe Tampa Bay will have a slight edge and squeeze out a victory down the stretch.

Indianapolis Colts at Denver
Broncos, 8:30 p.m.
This is my pick for game of the week because Sunday night football can't get any better than this on opening weekend. With the reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) in Peyton Manning and an MVP candidate in Andrew Luck squaring up against each other, this game should be nothing short of electric. The way I've seen Denver play in the preseason makes me believe that they are finally playing with a chip on their shoulder after the spanking they took in the Super Bowl. Wes Welker's presence will be missed for the first four games of the season, but Emmanuel Saunders will have a breakout year and should have a big game. The Colts have added Hakeem Nicks and a healthy Reggie Wayne will return, so Luck will have the necessary tools to get it done this season. This game should be a shootout and Luck won't go down without a fight, but Denver will secure the victory behind a vintage Manning drive. Don't be surprised if these two teams meet again in the AFC Championship.

Monday's Games
N.Y. Giants at Detroit Lions, 7:10 p.m.
This Monday night match-up should be entertaining to watch, but I want to see if any of these teams can show any flashes of being a playoff caliber team this year. Detroit is as talented as any team in the league offensively, and most of the credit deserves to be given to Calvin Johnson, but the mental mistakes prevent them from being a great team. As for the G-men, they could very well win the NFC East if Eli Manning can play at an elite level again, but he seems to be content with being a two-time Super Bowl champion at this stage of his career. While I would like to believe in Detroit to take care of business at home, New York will rebound from a terrible season and take advantage of the Lions' mistakes that will likely occur down the stretch.
Giants 27, Lions 23

San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals, 10:20 p.m.
Arizona was a pleasant surprise last season, winning 11 games, but I believe that they won't be able to match that win total this season because they will be on the radar of opponents. San Diego got hot late in the season, and I believe that they can be a playoff team once again in a weaker AFC. Philip Rivers will have a strong season and Keenan Allen will be a top 10 wide receiver this year, while the defense could be very good if healthy. I like the Chargers in this game mainly because the Cardinals are not fully healthy at key positions, and I believe San Diego will try its best to exploit those weaknesses.

NFL Week One

Thursday's Game
Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks, 8:30 p.m.
When these two teams are matched up against each other, we can only think about the "Fail Mary". The referees took away a game from the Packers wrongfully two seasons ago, and the Packers are not forgetting this. They will come back with a vengeance, ready to compete in the loudest stadium in football. Expect Aaron Rodgers and his offense to have silent counts, audibles at the line of scrimmage and an offensive clinic will be ran by the Packers. However, the Seahawks will fight and they will try to shake off the Super Bowl hangover. This game will be tough and it will come down to whoever has the chance to execute a perfect two-minute offense, but no referee will be able to save the champs from the beating the Packers will put on them.

Sunday's Games
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons, 1 p.m.
I have many questions about the Falcons. I don't know if their offensive line is ready to protect Matt Ryan. I don't know if they can replace Tony Gonzalez and I don't know if their defense is steady enough to handle high-powered offenses like that of the Saints. I expect for Julio Jones to have a huge season, but that doesn't calculate to a win over the Saints on Sunday.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens, 1 p.m.
Divisional games in the AFC North are always tough and hard to call. The Ravens are at home, but they will have a tough road ahead of them. It all starts with the physical Bengals squad and the weakened Ravens squad. I can't imagine the Ravens being dominant, but I can imagine the Bengals imposing their will on the Ravens in Baltimore.

Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears, 1 p.m.
Sammy Watkins: Get to know his name, and get ready to see him in a lot of highlights on ESPN. He is the Bills' rookie wide receiver, and this kid will be explosive. He won't be good enough to match the twin towers of Chicago, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, but he will be good. The Bears' offense is too high-powered, and with Jared Allen added to their defensive line, I don't know if E.J. Manuel will get clean looks down the field to move the ball. This will be a tough season opener for the Bills on the road.

Washington Redskins at Houston Texans, 1 p.m.
All eyes will be on Robert Griffin III as he starts his third year with a lot on his shoulders. After having an amazing rookie year, he came back and had a subpar sophomore year, which many blame on a premature return to football after knee surgery. I think Jay Gruden is the right coach for RG3, and I think we will see his maturation this year. It will start with this game. After locking in a huge paycheck, J.J. Watt looks to show why he is worth $100 million in this game. I do think that the Redskins will be too much for the Texans, and they will climb the ladder to the playoffs.

Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs, 1 p.m.
The Titans have upgraded all around. However, they will need a lot of fire power heading into Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Chiefs' quarterback Alex Smith has stepped up his play over the last four years and he has gotten better every year. The Chiefs have one of the best defenses and their running game has been productive. The Chiefs will be too much on opening day for the Titans.

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins, 1 p.m.
Nobody ever expects the Dolphins to beat the Patriots, but they are not thinking about a few things. The last time the Patriots came to Miami, they lost. It will be scorching hot on Sunday afternoon which will prove to be a problem late in the game for the team from the north. The Dolphins have a new offensive coordinator, Bill Lazor, who will speed up the flow of the game and make them put up points. Also, the Dolphins' secondary is intense, and they will give Tom Brady a hard time on Sunday. Rob Gronkowski will give the Dolphins the most problems. If he plays, the Patriots will be a lot for the Dolphins to handle, but because of my hate for the Pats, I am going with my team in a late-game win.

Oakland Raiders at N.Y. Jets, 1 p.m.
Will we see Geno Smith for the whole season as the starting quarterback for the Jets? That I don't know, but I do know that he will finish this game if he stays away from injury. I expect the Raiders to be great on defense, but I do expect the Jets to do just enough to pull out their home opener.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles, 1 p.m.
The Jaguars need so many pieces to be competitive in this league. Philadelphia should have no problems handling the Jaguars. The Eagles will fly high against a mediocre team.

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers, 1 p.m.
I don't think this will be an easy game for the Steelers. Their Head Coach Mike Tomlin is one of the best in the league. They will come out fired up and ready. I think the Browns is a solid team with a solid defense, but in no way can they do enough offensively against the Steelers to pull off a win in Pittsburgh.

Minnesota Vikings at St. Louis Rams, 1 p.m.
Vikings' quarterback Matt Cassell will last six games before Teddy Bridgewater rolls in. As for now, he has to try to defeat the super-defensive Rams. With the Rams' defense flying around, I don't know how the Vikings will get six points on offense. I know Adrian Peterson is capable of putting up 2,000 yards, but without an air attack, how will that happen?

San Francisco 49ers at Dallas Cowboys, 4:25 p.m.
How will the Cowboys win games this year? I have never met a more distracted team than the Cowboys. With Jason Garrett as their Head Coach and Jerry Jones as their owner, I don't think they make playoffs. The 49ers, on the other hand, have issues of their own. Their offense is horrible, but hey, they are playing the Cowboys.

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 4:25 p.m.
The first wake-up call for the Panthers will be this game against the Buccaneers. With Lovie Smith now calling the shots in Tampa, we know that they will be more physical, more disciplined and explosive. Look for those huge receivers to give the Panthers problems, and expect for the Buccaneers defense to frustrate Cam Newton.

Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos, 8:30 p.m.
Peyton Manning has no Eric Decker this season, and he will miss Wes Welker for four games due to a PED (performance-enhancing drugs) suspension. This means that the Thomas boys, Demaryius and Julius, will have to do some heavy lifting. On the other side, Andrew Luck will be at his best trying to crush the guy he replaced. This kid gets smarter and smarter, and I am sure he is out to prove that he can go toe-to-toe with the league's best. This will be amazing to watch, and I think Peyton shows Andrew Luck how it's done, particularly in the last two minutes of the game.

Monday's Games
N.Y. Giants at Detroit Lions, 7:10 p.m.
The Giants have their issues, and it starts with Eli Manning. Their leader can't get good protection, and he makes horrible decisions when under pressure. On the flip side, the Lions have a good pass rush, but their defense has been known to give up tons of points. They are usually placed in a position where quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Calvin Johnson and running back Reggie Bush have to score more points than the opposing team. I think the Lions' defense will show flashes of greatness and they get it done against the Giants in a nail-biter.

San Diego Chargers at Arizona Cardinals, 10:20 p.m.
Cardinals' quarterback Carson Palmer needs help from his offensive line. He took more sacks last season than he did in any other season of his career, so if the Cardinals can tighten up on that, he can find more time to get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd. The Chargers, on the other hand, have hot and cold seasons. One season they are hot, the next season they are cold. This is the cold season for them.
