Murder trial adjourned after new identification evidence

A murder trial recessed early after a prosecution witness disclosed information that appeared to come as a surprise to the defense.

New Providence records first road fatality for the year

New Providence recorded its first traffic fatality over the weekend.
According to police, around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday an 18-year-old woman and two passengers (a man and  woman) were travelling south on Baillou Hill Road in a Honda Accord when they collided into a Ford Explorer.

44 traffic deaths recorded in 2011

Forty-four people died in traffic accidents last year, according to statistics from the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF).
The majority of these victims, 41 of them, were male while three were female, the data shows.
Half of last year's traffic deaths occurred on New Providence. Ten people were killed in traffic accidents on Grand Bahama and 12 died in accidents on the Family Islands.

Man dies, another injured following GB car collision

A man is dead and another is in hospital after a late night car collision on Grand Bahama, police reported. Police were called to the crash scene at Midshipman and Balao Roads at 11:10 p.m. on Friday. They found a 58-year-old man, the driver of a gray 2004 Nissan Frontier, dead.

Officer wins civil suit against Police Force

A policeman who received 30 stitches in the head in an attack by another officer has won a civil suit in the Supreme Court.
Corporal Dwayne Bethel made a claim against the commissioner of police and the attorney general for damages for personal injuries over the October 7, 2006 incident.
