Generator fire halts bank operations

OPERATIONS at Bank of the Bahamas (above) on Tonique Williams Darling Highway came to a halt yesterday after a faulty generator (right) caught fire.

The fire broke out just before noon yesterday, but did not spread inside the bank. Supt Jeffrey Deleveaux, head of Fire Services , said investigators suspect the blaze was caused by an electrical shortage.

Three BEC generators restored

Three of four large generators that were off-line over the weekend, prompting load shedding that cut power to thousands of homes across New Providence, have been repaired a week before originally anticipated.
