When Hurricane Irene touched down on Crooked Island earlier this year it left in its wake a badly damaged Crooked Island High School. Included in that damage was the school's computer lab, which was used by the entire student body and adults in the community.

Girl fined $1,000 for school break-in
A magistrate yesterday fined a 17-year-old girl for breaking into a school and stealing electronic items and a vacuum cleaner.
She was one of four people who were initially charged in connection with the theft of the items from St. Francis and St. Joseph Catholic Primary School in August 2009.
