Teacher facing sex assault charges acquitted

A 64-year-old Guyanese teacher charged with assaulting a 16-year-old male student earlier this year has been acquitted.
John Persaud was arraigned before Magistrate Stephen Wilson, Eleuthera's local administrator, in Rock Sound, Eleuthera, on one count of indecent assault on May 18 and was acquitted earlier last month, according to police on the island.

Man charged with brutal rape of nun

The man accused of brutally raping an elderly nun was formally arraigned in a magistrate's court yesterday.
Latterrieo Duncanson, 29, of Tarpum Bay, Eleuthera, is accused of breaking into the Roman Catholic Convent in Rock Sound, Eleuthera, sometime between 10:30 p.m. on November 5 and 12:35 a.m. on November 6.
