STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS - Hurricane Irma - Bahamas Overseas Offices

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to advise that The Bahamas Consulate General in Atlanta will be closed Monday and Tuesday, 11 and 12 September, respectively.

The Bahamas Embassy in Haiti, and the Consulate General in Miami are also closed until further notice.
The Bahamas Embassy in Cuba will resume normal office hours, Monday, 11 September.

Brazil fears 19 migrants feared drowned off Bahamas

At least 19 Brazilian migrants are feared dead after they disappeared in Bahamian waters reportedly trying to illegally enter the United States, according to Brazilian authorities.
"We suspect that Brazilian citizens were on board of a ship that drowned on its way from The Bahamas to the U.S. that the migrants were trying to illegally reach," the statement said.
