Dorsett stands by preliminary Rubis findings
Minister of the Environment Kenred Dorsett yesterday dismissed criticisms that the government and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) were premature in declaring that there was no early evidence to suggest that Marathon residents had suffered significant adverse health effects as a result of the spill at Rubis' Robinson Road station.

Environmentalist dismisses Rubis report as attempted 'cover-up'
A prominent environmental attorney yesterday slammed assertions by Minister of Health Dr. Perry Gomez and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) that Marathon residents had experienced "no significant adverse effects" in the wake of the 2012/2013 spill at Rubis' Robinson Road station as an attempt to cover up poor management on the government's part.

Several Marathon residents yesterday said they do not believe the recent assessment and evaluation conducted by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) which revealed that no Marathon resident was exposed to dangerous levels of contaminants from the Rubis fuel spill in the area.

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday that an assessment and evaluation exercise by the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) shows that no Marathon resident was exposed to dangerous levels of contaminants and there was no significant level of contaminants from the spill detected in well water in the area.
