Devastation In Inagua

Hurricane Ike delivered a powerful blow to the island of Inagua on Sunday, tearing off roof tops, flooding streets and knocking out phone lines. Unofficial reports are that the island sustained millions of dollars in damage. Satellite images showed the eye of the Category 4 hurricane, packing 135 mile-an-hour winds, passing directly over Great Inagua around 11 a.m. Sunday.

Tropical Storm Watch for Inagua

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the island of Inagua as Tropical Storm Emily resumed a westward motion toward the southeast Bahamas, forecasters said.

Inagua on tropical storm alert

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a tropical storm alert for the island of
Inagua.
An alert means that tropical storm conditions are possible generally within 60 hours.
At 11am the centre of Tropical Storm Emily was located near latitude 15.3 degrees north and longitude 63.6 degrees
west or about 745 miles southeast of Great Inagua.

Inagua on alert for TS Emily

Inagua remains under Tropical Storm alert.
At 2pm the centre of Tropical Storm Emily was estimated from an Airforce plane to be near latitude 15.6 degrees north and longitude 64.8 degrees west.
Emily has resumed a westward motion at 12 miles an hour and on the forecast track, the centre will be near the coast of Hispaniola on Wednesday.
