We could be famous for our culture

Dear Editor,
Culture - we live with it everyday but we hardly see it. It takes a little shake to wake us up to what is around us. The weekend's Transforming Spaces tour gave the population a great opportunity to see what the world of art was up to. Thank you for giving me space to comment on recent events. I watch and wonder what does it take to get a Bahamian to rise from his lounge chair on the beach and say, enough is enough, and I am not taking anymore. Injustice, crime and decay and we just coast along.

Hurricane Irene Bringing Tons of Rain

Hurricane Irene, now a Category 2, will bring more rain and wind to the north shore of Hispaniola Monday night.

Powerful Hurricane Irene cut a destructive path through the Caribbean on Monday, raking Puerto Rico with strong winds and rain and then spinning just north of the Dominican Republic on a track that could carry it to the U.S. Southeast as a major storm by the end of the week.
