Thieves, vandals target businesses as Sandy passes

Inclement weather brought on by Hurricane Sandy wasn't the only cause of property damage in New Providence.

Police name man shot dead

By LAMECH JOHNSON

THE police have identified the man shot killed on Thursday night as 30-year-old Kyle Smith of Sunshine Park.

It is reported that he was sitting on the steps of the 'Get With It' fabric store on Sunrise Road along with a group of people shortly after 9pm, when a man wearing dark clothes got out of a white Honda armed with a high powered weapon.

Home Fabrics denies Androsia sale claims

The Androsia fabric company is claiming the sale of a batik material with a "Bahamian" design by a well-known fabric store has "dramatically affected" their operations, with staff hours at its Andros factory allegedly reduced as a result.

Jeff Birch, president of Androsia, said the move by popular fabric retailer, Home Fabrics, has limited Androsia's ability to grow in recent years.

Jerlea R.L. Adderley is the 26th Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year. The Sts. Francis & Joseph Catholic Primary School sixth-grade student with a 3.95 grade point average (GPA) was awarded the coveted Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Foundation (BPSSYF) title and a $7,000 scholarship, over the weekend.
