Murder charge reinstated

A MURDER charge against a former prison guard has been reinstated three weeks after the prosecution dropped the matter in Supreme Court.

Jerome Bethel, 38, had been on trial for the murder of Gary Gardiner, who was stabbed in a fight on February 11, 2009.

It was alleged that the victim was the boyfriend of Bethel's ex-girlfriend at the time.

Bethel was a prison officer from 1995 to 2001.
