FOUR - Group Exhibition Hosted by Jodi Minnis and June Own

FOUR brings together four different Bahamian contemporary artists, Gabrielle Banks, June Collie, Jodi Minnis and Angelika Wallace-Whitfield, whose practices center around an investigation of self, their womanhood, and the known and unknown women around them.
The exhibition opens on Thursday, November 22nd, 2018 at 5:30pm, coinciding with the Island House's featured musicians The Jazz Cats, and closes at 8pm.

You can enjoy your meal in our Beach Bar & Deck restaurant or on the beach. The menu includes a shrimp and conch creamy chowder as appetizer, a combo that adds a twist to this Bahamian classic. Or, you can choose a shrimp or chicken flatbread, with handmade dough flattened thin and topped with basil pesto and mozzarella baked to a crisp.
The entree is a Surf and Turf combo of steak and shrimp, or a combo of rosemary chicken and shrimp, served with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. Dessert is Key Lime Pie or the chef's special dessert. One glass of complimentary wine is provided, per person.

NAGB Film Series presents Contact Zone and Free Swim

Hosted by Bahamian filmmaker and NAGB film programmer Travolta Cooper, the NAGB Film Series continues with an exciting doubleheader with two Bahamian films "Free Swim" and "Contact Zone.
We start the evening with Gustavius Renwick's short film "Contact Zone" which takes place in an art gallery in New York City and details the seduction and attraction between visitor and curator.
The main feature "Free Swim," an award-winning documentary film by Jennifer Galvin is about the paradox of coastal people not knowing how to swim. Taking place on the island of Eleuthera, we follow a group of kids as they overcome their fears, gain confidence and reconnect with their environment by learning to swim in open waters. With fresh memories of a friend drowning and the conflicts of growing tourism, for the children, it is not just about floating but gaining new skills for their future.
This and all screenings are free and open to the public. We will have popcorn on hand for sale. Come out and spend this wonderful fall evening with us.
