The NAGB screens "Gentle Giant: The Andre Rodgers story"

Wednesday 2nd December 2015  6:00 PM

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas will be screening "Gentle Giant: The Andre Rodgers Story" at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2.

"Gentle Giant" is a documentary on the life of Andre Rodgers, the first Bahamian to play Major League Baseball. Having grown up in a Bahamas that was still a British colony, Rodgers went on to play in the 50's and 60's in the U.S., which was then going through a period of civil unrest.

Through the film, audiences get an understanding of the discrimination Rodgers encountered throughout his career. They also get a peek at Rodgers' 11 season career in the major leagues, playing for the New York Giants, the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburg Pirates.

The screening is free to attend and open to all members of the public.
