Appeal court dashes Maycock's hopes of release

A drug dealer's appeal against his conviction for having $1.2 million in marijuana with intent to supply did not end the way he had hoped.

Maycock appeals drug conviction

A prosecutor yesterday conceded that there was no evidence to connect Melvin Maycock Sr. to firearms and ammunition found inside a rented villa in 2008.
In November, Magistrate Carolita Bethell found Maycock guilty of possessing 1,200 pounds of marijuana, worth $1.2 million, three firearms and an assortment of ammunition that police seized from an apartment on May 17, 2008.

Maycock Sr. bail hearing adjourned

Drug convict Melvin Maycock Sr. will have to spend more time in custody before an appellate court decides if he will be freed on bail pending appeal.
Maycock, who is nicknamed Big Mel, is appealing a conviction for possession of marijuana worth $1.2 million and three illegal firearms.

Maycock Sr. gets three years on drug charge

A magistrate yesterday jailed an alleged drug lord for three years on charges stemming from a major marijuana and weapons seizure in 2008.
Melvin Maycock Sr., 45, was convicted for having 1,200 pounds of marijuana with intent to supply and possession of three firearms and assorted ammunition of various calibers.
