Haitian births in Bahamas nearly double

Between 1970 and 2010 births to Haitian mothers in The Bahamas nearly doubled, jumping from 7.2 percent to 13.7 percent, according to a new report released by The Department of Statistics.
However, the survey found that the total birth rate in The Bahamas fell nearly 50
percent from 28.8 per 1,000 population to 15.8 per 1,000 over the same period.
